In September, 2002, I purchased a brand new Kia Optima from Nationwide Kia. Within less than a year, I have taken the car back in for repairs at least 12 times (same problems-Check Engine light, car hard to start, etc.) I took it (as instructed) to a certified Kia Dealership closest to where I live--they only put a bandaid on because the problems still exist.

After the 7th or 8th occurrance, I reported the trouble to Kia of America. They sent me a letter back stating that their collegues (Kia of Glen Burnie) said they had repaired the vehicle, so they did not have to replace the vehicle. Since that time, I have taken the car back 4 times for the same problems. All they do is put a part on it (probably something that is not needed), and say that it is fixed.

I am still having the same problems. I have to take time off from work to try to resolve this issue. Oh yes, they give me a loaner vehicle, however, I have to replace the gas in the loaner (which I have no problem with) The proble is that they never replace the gas or miles used on my vehicle. I have been treated unfairly. I would not advise anybody to purchase from Kia because they do not stand behind their product.

I think they are only stalling until the warranty expires, so that I will be liable for any repairs. Apparently this car cannot be repairable. What does it take to get some sort of resolution? Is there any justice?

whats your lemon law?

#2Consumer Suggestion

Mon, July 07, 2003

i don't know exactly how your lemon law reads, in neb. the car has to be in the shop for 40 total days or 4 times for the same 'major' thing, maybe that would be a way. when i was more problems w/ my kia/p.o.s and called the consumer line enough times the got on the dealer, b/c i was treated totally different after talking to the consumer line a couple of times. get the persons name and direct extension so you get the same person. i feel for ya, mine hasn't been in that many times primarily due to the fact that i live to far from the dealer. good luck!
