They took my household items on Dec-24-2011, promising to deliver on 27-Dec. Now it is 12-Jan and have not even heard from them. They have not even communicated the weight of the consignment. And they have not even called for weeks now. The most unprofessional and dishonest company I have ever interacted with. Today finally I was able to reach their customer service and 'talk' to someone who knew what they were talking about. She finally transfered me to the actual moving company which turns out to be 'American Van Lines' and when I was finally talking to a Supervisor he said that next week he can give me an ETA!!!!

He did not have any answer to why they did not even call me to inform where my delivery was. He also did not know why there is no information about the delivery even in his system! But one thing he was sure about was that I had to pay the FULL amount when they delivered!

The salesperson who talked to me from Nationwide Relocation Services had assured me that he would be the only person I would need to talk to and would be in touch with me for the entire duration of the move. Not only does he ignore my calls, he has not even had to courtesy to respond to any of my 3-5 voicemails..

The way these guys operate is - the sales agents lie through their teeths and tell you whatever you want to hear up untill the point that all your stuff is in their truck.. They have absolutely not limits on what lies they can tell you. These companies train them so that they use any and all cheap dishonest method to get customers. Once your stuff is in their truck and you have signed all their one-sided contracts then there is no escape. Even when I first read their contract I was shocked. It was entirely in their favor, it doesnt even give you the right to sue them!! When I the sales guy about this he said that this is the industry standard and its normal. He said that I was worrying about nothing and that everything will be delivered on time and in good shape. But thats what he is trained to say.. whatever it takes to get the customers stuff into the truck!

I hope I can update this post to report how (when and in what shape) they finally delivered my stuff.. Else I'm just gonna have to file another report (which I am sure I will have to considering the way these guys have conducted their business so far).

Hope this helps some other poor soul who is considering using the services of 'Nationwide Relocation Services' or 'American Van Lines'.. Please stay clear of these unscrupulous folks

Items missing after a delay of over month

#3Author of original report

I can understand a delay of a few days or even a few weeks but here the delay was over a month. And the worst part of it is there is no communication from American Van Lines. Also it is very difficult to get a response from anyone in customer service. After lengthy waiting when you finally get through to the customer service they never seem to know anything about your move. My call is then transferred to the Dispatch manager who usually never answers. You leave a number of voice messages but seldom get a call back. When the dispatch manager does call all he says is he would give me an ETA the following week!

After all this frustration when my household items finally arrived - the biggest piece of my household item, my sofa is missing!! I really dont understand how a company can be so incompetent and unorganized.

The claim form said it would take 90 days for settlement. If a delivery that was supposed to take a week took more than a month I can imagine how much time the settlement would take.
