Be cautious when, if ever, you may use this brokerage company for your move. While their insurance department employees have been quite nice in explaining everything with more clarity, the representatives who do their best to take your money only tell you what they think you want to hear.

My rep was John N. who told me lots of nice things about their company. I was told to give a deposit for my move, which I did immediately. Later I was told that the deposit was really the brokerage fee, and I was also told by the mover they dispatched me, Libery Van Lines (horrible and unreliable) that if they reported any overweight to Nationwide, then I would be charged more money in brokerage fees. John didn't inform me of that.

John also told me that I could insure a single item, namely my baby grand piano which I've had for 20 years. Later, right before the movers arrived, I called Nationwide's insurance dept who told me I didn't have insurance with them and that I would have to insure the whole move, not a single item. When I called John to ask why, he became indigent and said that it wasn't his job to know these things, and then he began to ask me what my job was and started arguing and debating on what to know for what job.

I was furious because any consumer would expect the representative to know the answers or to be able to refer their customers to the correct departments for answers. To give an answer to customers with what they think the customer would like to know, with false information is irresponsible. I cut the call short as I wanted to make sure I had my move insured before the movers arrived. Later, when I called John to ask for updates, and also to ask about what-if scenarios as I was nervous about my first move, he said I was overly concerned an everything would be alright. Of course when I received my things, many of which were damaged, and I was fraudulently overcharged by the Liberty Van Lines, I was far from being a satisfied customer.

Nationwide writes you off as soon as they received your money. Nor do they want to take any responsibility for a bad move from their dispatch. They'll do their best to pacify you and then cross you off as a done deal. Be care and get references from movers and brokers before your big move. You don't want to get into the nightmare I'm in now.
