9/16/17 - Signed contract with Nationwide Window & Siding for 14 windows and siding, wrapping of facia boards and window trim, insulation, raker boards etc

Total price is $23,983.00.  No price breakdown of windows and siding is given; siding and wrapping of facia boards and window trim, insulation, raker boards is approximately 75% of job.

9/18/17-Deposit of $4,388.00 paid.

11/20/17 - We removed one window 72” x 50” in anticipation of 11/21 window installation.

11/21/17 - 14 wrong windows are sent to project.  Cannot reach Nationwide at all.  Subcontractor and Alside eventually contact us later in the day and let us know that the windows will be remade and they will contact us in 2 weeks.  We are left with a hole in the house 72” x 50” that we have to board up.  Below freezing temperatures for next 3+ weeks!

Early Dec 2017- Freezing temperatures and we call Nationwide several times.  We finally hear from Alside and are told the windows are coming soon.  Alside tells us that Nationwide is supposed to be handling customer complaints but they cannot get owner John Azeri to respond to us either.  Alside says they don’t know what is happening at Nationwide office, but no one is responding to them either.

12/19/17 – We are freezing inside our house and cannot get an answer about where our order is or when installation can begin.  We attempt to cancel contract with Nationwide.  No response from Nationwide.

12/20/17- Alside calls and promises to send contractor within next few days.  We tell them we want Nationwide to respond and agree to addendum to our contract. Owner John Azeri agrees to price reduction of one free window, all wood tone interior and not to charge our Wells Fargo card until the work is complete.

12/22/17 – Windows only are installed.  Siding installation is promised for following week.

12/27/17 - some materials for siding are dropped off.  Wrong color, not enough materials sent.  Failed installation, installer can’t make it to job, he is on vacation.  Installation promised for next week.

1/19/18 - Failed installation: installer can’t make it to job; we are contacted by our town’s building department that Nationwide did not get a permit to do the work.

1/23/18 - our Wells Fargo card is charged an incorrect amount of $19,700 before work is complete.  *See bottom of last page below for breakdown.

1/24/18 – Patrick Brooks of Alside personally goes to pick up permit.  He visits job and says he realizes the materials are wrong/not correct quantity.  He says installer will bring materials.  Nationwide does not respond to our calls.

1/29/18 - Failed installation: Installer can’t make it again. Nationwide does not respond.

1/30/18 – Failed installation: Installer arrives without correct materials and says he can’t work that day anyway.  Nationwide does not respond.

1/31/18 – We are made aware by Wells Fargo that our card has been charged. Nationwide does not respond.

2/1/18 - We cancel contract with Nationwide and notify Alside. Alside agrees that the job is in shambles and apologizes for whole order being handled terribly and that they have also asked for an explanation of why our card was charged, especially because Nationwide has not been charged for our materials.  No response from Nationwide.

2/1/18 - We email Nationwide again.

2/2/18 - Nationwide owner John Azeri responds to our cancellation.  Although he admits Nationwide has no way of completing this job on its own, he insists that we cannot cancel, explains that we will be ripped off if we speak with an attorney.

2/2/18 - We called Wells Fargo and opened a dispute.

2/3/18 – Most materials are picked up from job site by Alside.  We filed a complaint with the BBB. (BBB has 37 registered complaints against Nationwide for similar tactics.)

2/5/18- Remainder of materials are picked up from job site by installer.

* Taken from email dated 12/21/17.

$23,983.00-original price

$0.00-upgrade to all wood tone window interiors

$1,678,00-2 windows no charge

$4,483.00 charged to VISA on 9/18/17

TOTAL due upon our complete satisfaction and full completion of entire window and siding job: $17,822.00.

DO NOT CHARGE OUR WELLS FARGO CREDIT CARD UNTIL WE HAVE AUTHORIZED YOUR OFFICE TO DO SO.

We signed a contract with Nationwide Window & Siding.  Without our knowledge Nationwide then sent out the work to Alside who then uses subcontractors they have no control over.

The two companies do not work together, have no affiliation and each has claimed that it is the other’s responsibility to complete our order.  At this point, there are no materials on site and Nationwide has no way of fulfilling the order, as this work cannot be completed by Alside either; they have unreliable subcontractors not prepared to work and cannot fill the siding/insulation order correctly.

We are requesting the $19,700 charge be refunded to our to Wells Fargo account.
