Well the check came, so I deposited it in my checking account. I got a call from security at Navy federal telling me the check was not good. I thanked them for that information and contacted the buyer who told me they had no idea why. I told them I will only accept cash from them. So they drove to my home and paid in cash. Then I was ask buy a shop to rebuild a 1967 396 engine. They shipped the block to me and and I completely rebuilt it. They send a check $2865.00 to cover my fee. I deposit it and again got a all from Security at Navy Federal telling me the check was not good. They went on telling me all my accounts would be closed and a permanent Clouseau on all my account would be done. I ask if I owed a shoe store and got bad check would you kick me out? I have never been treated like this in my life. Do not bank with NAVY FEDERAL CREDIT UNION ... your description ... Vienna Virginia

First off if your business does a quarter of a million year..congratulations. Then while I thank you for your serivce, the "Veteran" card has nothing to do with this and you are just using it trying to gain sympathy.

But you didn't answer the question. Does your business as a habbit take in checks for 10's of thouands of dollars that bounce? If you have with other banks why are you still not with the other bank? How soon after you opened the account did these checks bounce? What type of account was this? You said you opened up checking accounts for you and your wife, and you seemed to infer it was a personal and not business account. If you are making a couple hundred thousands a year, this isn't a hobby it is a business. If you are mixing business and personal, the IRS often doesn't take too kindly to that.

And yes if you were a shoe store and had a significant portion of your checks being returned you should be expected to be treated the same way. But again in a shoe store you are not going to get checks for more than a couple hundred, so the "risk" is lower. Just like in any business it is all about risk.

My company take in about 250.000.00 per year and 45,000 is a small part of it, but without asking you dicided to blame me for this? Navey Federal claims to stand behind current and passed Military personel. I feel they do not, not matter what you or anyone one else says, either you stand beside us or you do not.

You say you have never been treated like this before in your life. But in your life have you attempted to deposit two checks for a total of close to $48,000 that both turned out to be bad? I would hope the answer is No, but if the answer is Yes then perhaps you should really reconsider accepting checks in the future. Especially with so many more ways to accept deposits now.

You don't say exactly why your account is being closed, but I think you can see why. You are showing yourself to be a high risk due to those bad checks, and don't think that any other bank would have treated you any different. In fact some may have closed your account out after the first check for $45,000 bounced.

As for your shoe store analogy, that is an invalid comparison. A shoe store is a retail store that could accept many checks. So if one or even a few checks gets rejected it would still be a very small percentage of the overall checks that get deposited. And unless they were buying the shoe store, none of them would be for $45,000.
