They finaced us a repoed truck, it was suppose to have new tires on it, it did not. It was suppose to have a 10speed transmission it was and auto shift. We should have walked away then but we had already turned in our other truck and they told us it had been checked out and was in good shape so we decided to go ahead and buy it.
Within one month we were in the shop for Transmission problems, thought they was fixed, then we find out the brake pods on the truck were shot so we had them fixed,

Then the transmission breaks down again, we had to have they looked at again. That is all within 1-2 months of owning the truck. Then we ended up having to put 8drive tires on it which was 3,000 dollars, then the transmission messes up again, we got behind one payment because we have put so much into this truck it has come to about 10 to 12,000 dollars.

We contacted NBF to see if we could try to refinance or get into another truck but they said it is not there problem, that is what you get when you buy used.
I understand you are buying at risk, but I also think that that $12,000 dollars within 4months is not acceptable.

The company where he was leased got tired of him breaking down constantly, therefore we had to drop the lease and lost his job. Now we have to file banckruptcy because they repossed the truck, Why is it there is no protection for the consumer? This finance company can sure ruin you financially I would not reccomend to any one to use them,.

My reasons for writing this rip-off

is hopefully someone will take away one thing I have said, and does not make the same mistakes we have made.

The truck was not a old truck it was a 2001 Freightliner, and NBF had the truck and told us there mechanic had gone thru it and it was a sound truck, its taught us a very valuable lesson not everyone care about you or what kind of junk they are selling you, and as for you Steve I really don't care if you think it is a rip-off or not. That is our opinion and I just hope that someone else will think twice before they bite. We asked them when all this trouble was going on with the truck how many of them they got back and they said oh about half or more. It's amazing when we tried to get them to help us to put in a transmission they would not do anything, we told them one more break down and we was done. The next break down was the next day, so we called them and told them we was done, and they could have it after the fact that his company terminated the lease, then they wanted to try and fix it. Little to late. We were flat broke after $12,000 dollars in 4 months and a company that didn't want you leased to them anymore because we were constantly broke down.

Marty,

You responded:
"Yes, we bought a used truck, and a REPO at that!
but when the finance company tells you that they had a mechanic check it out and it is good, You think that maybe they would be honest. And yes we did examine the truck but when there is internal transmission problems, and it doesn't act up when you drive it how are we suppose to know that"?

My response:
If it doesn't act up when you drive it, how would the mechanic or the seller have known about it? They are simply getting rid of an old truck that is a repo. If you want a warranty, buy one next time, or buy or lease a NEW truck that is under warranty.

You responded:
"It started in about a 3-4weeks after that. As far as buying steer tires I would like to know where you can get them for $200 dollars each beacuse we had to replace one of them and it cost $400 mounted and balanced. Have you ever drove down the road and had a RECAP blow beside you not fun".

My response:
I never said you could get steer tires for $200 each. I did say you can get recap drive tires for about $200 each. I also stated that you could get 8 steer tires for that $3000 you spent. 8/3000=$375 each. There are many steer tires available in the $375 range. Especially if you are buying 8 drives at the same time. AND, recap tires are the norm for drive axles. Recaps are better today than they have ever been and with the current technology they offer the same level of safety as a virgin tire. Recaps are PERFECTLY SAFE and are very reliable when maintained correctly.

You responded:
"WE believe in Safety for other drivers around you plus then you are out more money to repalce them. And FYI if we owned the truck we still had a job that you can be fired for not being able to deliver your loads"

My response:
Thats not how it works. If you had a "job" that would make you an employee, and the tire and truck problems would be the problem of your employer, the truck owner. I have never seen any employee lose a job over a legitimate breakdown of the employers equipment.

You responded:
"We still deliver goods from point A to point B
so consumers like you can buy things. We were leased to one of the biggest companies in the United States and were successful until we had to start putting $10-$12,000 dollars in a junk truck".

My reponse:
Nobody forced you to buy a junk truck. You made a choice to buy an old truck with no warranty. And being leased on to someone else legally makes you self employed for legal purposes. I am also a truck driver. I have been a company driver, lease driver and an owner operator with own authority. Therefore I know the busines and the law.

You are a victim only of your own bad choices. No rip off here.

Marty, PLEASE clarify how the FINANCE COMPANY is responsible for the truck you bought?

Marty,

You bought a USED TRUCK, and a REPO at that!
Did you sign the AS IS disclosure?

Why did you not examine the truck carefully BEFORE signing the contract?

AND, how are 8 drive tires $3000? You could buy 8 good steer tires for that money! MOST truckers run recaps on the drives which can be had for about $200 each, which is $1600, not $3000.

And, FYI If you owned/controlled the truck and were leased on to a company, you did NOT have a "JOB" to lose as you were not an employee. You were a lease operator.

Employees who have jobs drive someone elses truck.
