 First, I'm willing to bet that the website you dealt with did not provide NO service, because that WOULD be illegal and a scam. I'm guessing that in fact this site charges a fee to take your information and then hand it to the government agency which provides the license, effectively acting as a totally unnecessary middle man. This is far from uncommon on the internet- the vast majority of "Credit Repair" and "Debt Relief" companies offer nothing that the average person can't do themselves with a little legwork, but are legal because they ARE providing a service. There are even "Hold Your Mail" companies that will charge you a weekly fee for sending in a Hold request to the USPS, something anyone can arrange for FREE. Again, these are legal because they are providing a service, even if that service is totally unnecessary. Second, my reply was not strictly for your benefit, but for the people out there who might read it and begin to understand how to avoid sleazeballs like the ones you ran into. You didn't even MENTION in your original post that you eventually realized that .com and .gov are not the same things, and that when accessing government services you must avoid .com if you want to avoid being asked to pay for something that does not actually require a charge. That's the real moral of your story, and the reason for my post. Sorry it irritates you, but you seemed to have missed the point of Ripoffreport.com- not just to get justice for yourself, but also to warn others to avoid the mistake you made.

I agree it was a mistake on my part to no notice that it was .com and not .gov, and I would eat the absorbant cost as my mistake, if it wasnt for the fact that I did not receive a license. I guess you never  made a mistake John? I agree it was stupid even on my part. I find it funnny that you post a rebuttal, and yet I also assume you have no association with said website, instead only wanting to waste your time and assert your dominance on your vastly superior level of internet intelligence 4 decades into the  world wide web. What does your post contain that might perhaps help the elderly or others less savy than yourself to prevent being taken advantage of by predatory websites like this ? And again, no goods received from this website and its so called services, and as far as I know, that is a crime, with Google listing this site at the top of the page. Be smart. Remove your rebuttal some something can be done about predatory sharks and scum on the web that steal money for no services. 

Government services are .gov. Not .com. Government services are .gov. Not .com. Government services are .gov. NOT .COM!! The internet is about to enter it's fourth decade. Get a clue, people! One BIG REASON for the existence of .gov is to prevent scams like this- but it doesn't work if you don't pay attention to what you are doing!!
