NCIC Charges outrageous amounts for local and long distant calls, and doesn't inform you of the cost Longview Texas
I was told that the satellite phone I was using was $4.00/min. Ok its expensive but for a important call in the middle of nowhere Ontario Canada, its reasonable. I limited my conversation to under 3 mins. 3x4=$12 . I get back and check my credit card statement $42 !! I call them and ask why it was so much. They said supposedly the people that own the sat. phone misinformed me of the price, and if I want to get the real price then I needed to talk to an operator.
I am sorry but that is ridiculous, and I do research and find I am not the only one with problems with NCIC. The women I called then says well since you
were "misinformed" I can take $20 of your bill, um yea that makes lots of sense. It sounds more like if you raise a stink about their overcharging they will give you a slight refund, but if you just ignore it they will take all they want.
Anyway I take my slight refund, whimper away, never to use NCIC again, and hope I can tell as many people as I can. Its too bad someone with some legal authority can't do something about them.

JimBob,
Sorry about the expensive satellite call. There is an operator/equipment surcharge that puts the call price at about $37 for 3 - 6 minute calls. On top of that, we have to add 11% Universal Service Fund tax, pushing the price above $40.
Since the phones are so remote, service calls keep the prices high. I think the phones only have $4 per minute posted on them from last year, but the prices went up this past summer. The operator would quote a rate if you requested.
