I ran a credit check through Experian and they reported a collection account through NCO Financial. The original creditor was "Northside Medical Center" and the balance was for $1414. The "account" was created in 7/2006 and sent to collections 9/2006 for non-payment.

I immediately disputed this information as I've never even heard of Northside Medical Center. Experian came back to me about 2 days later and stated that the information "Remains" meaning they verified the information as accurate.

Friday 10/20 I started making calls to NCO. FIRST of all, I got transferred around TWENTY times, disconnected twice, sent to voicemail twice before I finally got to speak with someone for more than 10 seconds.

The person on the phone stated that with the account number given, it was listed to someone else with the same last name, but different first name than me. Using my SSN, she couldn't find ANYTHING for me. She asked me to fax in Experians report.

I sent the fax, saved the successful transmission report, also sent an electronic contact to Collections and told them I expect to see an updated report IN WRITING to me and all the credit bureaus in approximately 5 business days or they will hear from me again...and it won't be pretty.

I saw via another report on this site, someone got a collections report on them for "Paypal". I registered and used Paypal for the first time in 7/2006 (for a $70 purchase of event tickets, which was paid for immediately via an electronic transfer). Notice that 7/2006 is when this bogus account was created. COINCIDENCE...??? I think not.

This is a money-grubbing company that tries to strongarm the common person into paying on fake accounts. RUN YOUR CREDIT REPORT!

#3Consumer Suggestion

Hi, hopfully I can give a little advice on the person who had the rebuttle.

According to the FCRA, "Furnishers" are to contact "consumers" prior to adding any derogatory information on your credit reports.

Aside from that, if there is any way you can prove this account is 6 years or older. Chances are it is outside the SOL (Statute Of Limitations) anyway, and NCO cannot legally report this account any longer.

I would dispute the account. And if you have any copies of your old credit report showing that you had disputed the account previously and it was deleted. Then getting it deleted this time shouldnt be a problem.

Dispute with NCO and the Credit bureau at the same time. If NCO "verifies" the account with which ever credit reporting agency and mark it that way on your credit report prior to them sending you validation of debt, you can possibly sue them for FCRA violations.

NCO did the same thing to me. I was notified by my credit monitoring service that they made an entry on my credit report for supposedly owing them $56. At no time did they attempt to contact me prior to this and I don't owe anybody $56.

What I think happened is they bought an old collections issue from Palisades that I successfully disputed in 2000. This was for an account that I never had with AT&T. It's been off my report for 6 years so how can they just up and put it back on there again after it was successfully disputed?

I reported them to the FTC and now have to dispute this all over again with the credit agencies. For you "how to beat the colletion agency guru's", can they just put something on my report without ever contacting me. I'm pretty easy to find!

I hate these lowlife bottom feeders!
