Having spent the last 5 years or so rebuilding my credit rating following a bankruptcy (discharged in 1991), imagine my "surprise" in receiving a letter from the above mentioned company informing me that they had purchased my account and were now looking for payment.

The thing that is staggering is the amount.

On an initial balance of around $2800 at 6% interest they show an accrued interest of $2400!!!! This has got to be a record of some kind. Oh yeah, and this letter was not even sent to me directly, but to my mother's address where I have never lived.

The closest I can figure is that one of the credit cards that was discharged (in 1991) had a balance close to the amount mentioned in the letter. I have already written a reply letter requesting information about this alleged debt.

Judging by the number of complaints I've seen on this and other similar sites, this is a nationwide SCAM.

Report this to your state attorney general, USPS Mail Fraud, and for good measure your local TV investigative reporter.
