I received a letter today (12/20/07) from NCO Financial Systems addressed to a previous married name that I have not used for 12 years but at my current address.

They said I owed Chase/Assignee of Provi (cut off at that point) the purchased balance of 3688.56 with interest of 4140.96 for a total of 7829.52, but if I paid a total of 3914.76 in up to 3 monthly payments I could settle this account.

I did declare bankruptcy in 1994, but I went back to my papers and this amount, account number, or Chase was on those papers.

I think I may have had a car loan through Chase at one point, but I know that all of that was paid off. Until this letter arrived today, this is the first I have heard of this.

I then went to my Equifax account and it does not show on my credit report, but I have advised Equifax of this matter as I have purchase the Equifax Gold Watch.

How are these people allowed to do this? It's scary.
