I lived in Dothan Alabama for 3 years and had telephone service with Verizon all that time. I moved to Troy Alabama and my telephone service was transfered to Troy Alabama including Outstanding balances. About 2 years ago Century Tel bought out Verizon and my total account including outstanding balances were transfered to Century Tel. About 1 year later- approximately Aug or Sept of 02 I received a bill from NCO financial systems with an offer of 50% off my outstanding balance with Verizon.

If I sent them $26 and some change that my balance would be paid in full. About that same time I did have an outstanding balance on my Century Tel account of around $45 -$50. I sent a check to NCO financial systems for the $26 and some change, but my telephone bill reflected no change. I spent about 3-4 hours on the phone with NCO financial Systems and Century Tel one day trying to get some answers to where my money went because I had no deduction in my phone bill.

I was transfered to one person to another. I aws put on hold for long periods of time. Century Tel pointed the finger at NCO financial Systems and they in turn pointed the finger at Century Tel. I was hung up on. I ran the whole gammut that day with no answers. I finally called Verizon and I finally got some straight answers.

A Verizon rep told me that when Century Tel took over that it was a total buy out. Century Tel had bought even the outstanding accounts and in almost every instance Century Tel had failed to change the company name on outstanding accounts. I aws told that my call was not the first of this type that he had received.

I have tried but I cannot get any consumer satisfaction. It seems that I have paid NCO Financial Systems $26 for nothing and I cannot do anything about it. I am just glad that it was not for any more than this.
