The County hospital turned over my bill to these idiots and now they are calling. The first call I agreed to make a payment by mail as soon as possible and they agreed with that. The very next day they called again and started asking the same questions

I reminded her that I had already made an agreement with them and she said okay. Then on Sunday morning (which is illegal) they called again this time I was not nice in any fashion! If they call again I will file charges and I hope they read this and know I am not fooling with them!

Do you want to get rid of a bill collector once and for all? It's not hard.

All you have to do is not pay them.

Every time they call, promise to send money. Then, ask them to call back in 3 hours.

Yes, I'll be sending out the full amount as soon as I get off the phone.

Just to be on the safe side, you better call me back. Don't worry, I'm up late, so call anytime.

When they call, tell them you mailed out a check.

When they don't get the check, they call you again.

Huh, that's funny. It must have got lost in the mail. I'll send another one. Call me back in 3 hours.

Each time they call I have a new story.

Thank god you finally called. I was getting worried. Do you realize that we are both right on the verge of achieving more riches than mere mortals can ever begin to imagine? You're the only one that understands this. We must keep this a secret just between the two of us. Do you think anyone is tapping into our phone conversation? How can we trust it? Give me your home number, and I'll call as soon as you get home.

This goes on for like a month. Some people smarten up right away. Others take the full month.

You want to keep the collectors on the phone for as long as possible. I talk for hours. I got nothing else to do. I get way off the subject.

Let me tell you about the time I found a gold preying mantis in the woods. They're worth money.

I keep them dancing along, always thinking that they'll eventually get a few bucks. But, in the end, they finally see they have spent good money on letters and phone calls. Plus, they have spent 20 hours with me on the phone. Each time, the stories get crazier and the excuses come right out of the twilight zone.

And, they still don't have one dime to show for it. A complete waste of time and money.

Once they smarten up, they go away and never call back. I've successfully eliminate huge debts like this.

Plus, I have fun with the people. I get to know them by name. Their family. Their friends. I talk for hours.

All on their dime, of course.

Naturally, I always tell them to call me back as soon as possible. Today. Early tomorrow morning. I explain it's no bother if they call at 4 AM. Please, whenever it's convenient.

Is there a number I can call you at?

If they're stupid enough to give me a number, I call a minimum of twenty times a day. Every 15 minutes. Each call is something different. Each one is more urgent than the last. I get to be such a god d**n nuisance that they end up screaming at me to stop calling. I had one guy tell me to just keep the money. I simply make myself more god d**n trouble than it's worth to them.

Naturally, I won't go away that easy.

I have a legitimate debt, so I'm going to keep calling until it's cleared up.

I leave long messages on the answering machine. I fill up the voice mailbox. I'll talk to anyone at the collector's business. The answering service. Even the guy that sweeps the floors. One time, I called and got the cleaning service. Same thing.

Wait, don't go. Let me tell you about the time I was three numbers off for a billion dollar lottery prize. I've got the secret code that the research scientists have been looking for their whole lives. I need you to help me figure this out. We'll both end up rich.

You do the exact opposite of what they do. You call them up a dozen times a day. Talk forever. Make collect calls every day. Always make them think that they will be getting money. Learn everbody's name. Get every address you can.

Everybody has a breaking point. You just need to find it. I guarantee they'll never last a month. After 2 days they no longer talk to me. They hang up as soon as I say hello. The phone will ring for hours at a time. All I can do is fill up the voice mail at night. After a week or two of that, they all go away, and stay away.

Mission accomplished!

To all interested but specifically John,

I am a Collection agent for a high profile financial institution with 10+ years of experience. I know for a fact that agencies do call on weekends (this is considered peak contact hours) since the likelyhood of the delinquent client being home is great. My suggestion to you is before you give advice do the research. For example:

1.) Contact the institution in which the balance was intitated and negotiate with them prior to sending funds as they may no longer recognize your account. Companies will cash the check regardless and place the funds in an escrow account or "Holding Account" until the owner of the funds contacts them to see what the hell is going on. Do not just send a check with the account number on it under the assumption that the institution still owns the account because they may not.

2.) NCO Financial does work for the institution in which I am employed and contract accounts out to. My dealings with them have been disappointing at best in regards to the files I send to them. Additionally after they attempted to collect from me on a EBAY account which had been paid by screaming and yelling for no apparent reason. SO I would recommend executing what is called a "Request for Cease and Desist" by sending a letter via fax or regular mail advising them to not contact you via phone (By law they must oblige)to avoid any unneccesary verbal assaults that may coexist with your dealings with them.

3.) And last but not least (and which may come across a little harsh) Handle your buisiness if you owe something pay it dont take the easy way out because it is actually harder in the end. IF the charge is not valid fight it, if it is valid pay it, if it's paid ignore it. By no means should you deprive yourself of seven quality years of your life by filing bankruptcy.

Good luck and tight lines

how to beat nco financial at their own game

I USED TO WORK FOR A COLLECTION AGENCY WHICH IS A COMPETEITOR OF NCO FINANICAL.

PLUS, I HAVE HAD FUN DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE OVER THE PHONE.

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LIE WHEN THEY CALL.

HERE IS WHAT TO DO.

LIE AND SAY THAT YOU ARE SOMEONE ELSE, GIVE A FAKE NAME.

SAY THAT YOU HAVE POWER OF ATTORNEY OVER THE PERSON THEY ARE CALLING ABOUT AND ASK WHAT THE CALL IS ABOUT.

NCO FINANCIAL HAS A GOOD TRACK RECORD OF BREAKING FDCPA LAWS.

WHEN THEY DISCLOSE WHAT THE NATURE OF THE CALL IS ABOUT, TELL THEM THEY JUST BROKE FDCPA LAW AND THEY SHOULD HAVE ASKED YOU TO FAX OVER VERIFICAION THAT YOU HAVE POWER OF ATTORNEY.

TELL THEM THAT THEY JUST VIOLATED THE LAW BY COMMITTING 3RD PARTY DISCLOSEURE.

TELL THEM THE CALL IS BEING TAPED....

ACTUALLY, TRY AND TAPE THE CALL BUT LET THEM KNOW BEFORE THE CONVERSATION BEGINS THAT THEY ARE BEING TAPED.

TELL THEM THAT YOU ARE NOW GOING TO SUE THEM.

THE WILL ARGUE WITH YOU THAT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG BUT IF YOU WANT, YOU CAN LOOK UP FDCPA LAWS FOR YOURSELF AND SEE WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT.

AT THIS POINT, THEY WILL BE REALLY MAD.

ONCE YOU HANG UP ON THEM, THEY WILL NOT CALL YOU BACK FOR A LONG TIME.

NCO FINANCIAL DOES NOT TRAIN ITS EMPLOYEES CORRECTLY AND VIOLATE LAWS CONSTANTLY.

ONE OF THE REASONS I BECAME A BILL COLLECTOR WAS BECASUS I WANTED TO SEE HOW THEY SO CALL "TICKED" AND WHAT THEY COULD REALLY DO LEGALLY TO A PERSON WHO DID NOT PAY THEIR BILLS.

YES, I WAS YOUNG AND MESSED UP MY CREIDIT. BUT, IN RETURN I HAVE LEARNED SO MUCH AND AM NOW HAVING A LOT OF FUN WITH BILL COLLECTORS.

Hi Lyin again,
A respose to you to them on Sunday should be.
Bud, I hate to tell you Today is Sunday and it is a non-business day. My Bank is closed. Please call me on a Business day. Mat is obevious is a From NCO. He is stating the collections agency did not break any laws. Now Matt why are you lieing to this women. Threating someone is against the law. let me remind you that your agency viloated The Federal Fair Debit Collection Practices Act back in 2004. Matt what do you have to gain by stating she has not made arrangements already with her creditor. Shame on you. YOU are a bad little boy when are you going to grow up.?

Oh Lyin, If they still keep calling you. One do not send them money over the phone. To prove you have paid something your need some type of prof.
Do not use your credit card eather over the phone.

Oh if the agency keeps calling you. Then by all means call them back. Onc and Agency keeps calling me. I make a point to settle the bill with the orginal creditor. At that point I would not trust them.

Now if they keep calling you Start reading the bible to them or any book you have. Call them back and do the same thing over and over again.
They will get the message to stop calling you.
Rember have fun with these type of people.
You have the right of free speech. Use it.

How are you doing? Take a deep breath and listen.
For one this person calle Matt is lieing to you.
For one a Collection agency will never call you on Sunday unless he is calling from his own home.
You will find that they will never call you on Saturday and Sunday. Now First instead of dealing with the Collection Agency. First check with the Better business. See if the company has any complants with them Also do a search with this site to see how repitable the agency is.

If it is not a repirable agency. I would advise you to send the moeny directly to the hospital under the account number. If you deal with the Agency make shire you keep all of your receipts like checks. Lot of these so called agencies will try to make you pay twice ot three times. Each time you get on the phone make shire you tell them that you are recording the phone conversation and keep the tapes.

Tell them not to call you since you are paying on it or you made arangements with the orginal creditor. If they keep calling you anyway. Then Keep calling them back until the stop. Now once you have paid the bill. Check your credit report. If and most likly the Agency did not remove the mark agenst your credit. Then make a complant to all the credit reportating agencies.

Send those agencies copies of your checks showing you paid the bill. Next contact The United States Attorney in the State the agency is based at in writing. Send the Attorny copies of your payments and state you want to make a complant against the agency for putting misleading information on your credit report.
Beleve it or not you are not the only one with the problem. Oh the agency is breaking a Federal law under Fair Debit Collection Practiecs Act.
The Federal Government will take it from thier.

If the Agency tell you that they are taking you to court. Then my all means start checking into chaper 13 or 7 Bankruptcy. YOU will find out under that protection. They will not be able to take your house and your car and your retirement.

Just to clear up a few things for you. The collection agency has the legal right to call you on any day they see fit. They can call you anytime between the hours of 8am and 9pm your local time, even on Sunday. The only way to stop the phone calls is to send them a letter saying to cease communicaiton with you. At that point they can make one final call to you to inform you that they will stop calling and to let you know what steps they plan to take (law suit, garnishment of wages, levy of a bank account, or a lien on your house) this action is usually based on the balance of your account.
Based on the details you have provided they have not violated any of your rights under collection law.
You may want to send them a letter telling them not to call you on the phone anymore and include a payment with it as they will likely put you on a small payment arrangement. I would not waste my time trying to "file charges" against them as they have not violated any law and you would just be wasting your time and money and i assume since your bill is past due that you probably don't have any extra money laying around.
Good luck!!
