Jim,

It is bad advice to tell anyone to send a letter via "registered" mail. The proper way to send this CEASE COMMUNICATIONS request is CERTIFIED MAIL, RETURN RECIEPT REQUESTED.

There is a BIG difference between "registered" mail and "certified" mail. REAL BIG!

>>

Certified Mail
Get a mailing receipt and online access to the delivery status.

With Certified Mail you can be sure your article arrived at its destination with access to online delivery information. When you use Certified Mail, you receive a receipt stamped with the date of mailing. A unique article number allows you to verify delivery online. As an additional security feature, the recipients signature is obtained at the time of delivery and a record is maintained by the Post Office.

For an additional fee, request a copy of the signature record before or after delivery with Return Receipt.

>>

Registered Mail
Registered Mail provides the maximum security.
When youre sending valuable or irreplaceable items through the mail, protect them with Registered Mail.

Items you send with Registered Mail are placed under tight security from the point of mailing to the point of delivery, and insured up to $25,000 against loss or damage. And you can verify the date and time of delivery and the delivery attempts online.

I was referring to the OP. If you had bothered to read the entire initial post, you might have known that I wasn't writing to you.

Next time, remove head from a**...THEN post...

Why Is nco still allowed to continue to abuse people.   The federal trade commission refuses to shut them down I am sure they have received dozens of complaints.  I have heard of other collection agencies being shut down.

But why Is nco allowed to continue to abuse people & continue doing there dirty tricks.  And breaking laws.

...episodes to craft responses to matters like this.

Folks, there is no "Cease and Desist" letter where collection law is concerned. It is IMPERATIVE that you get the verbiage correct when dealing with these bottom-feeding scumbags.

Send these creeps a CEASE COMMUNICATIONS letter (UNSIGNED, or that signature will "magically" end up on a document of their choosing at a later date) via U.S Postal Mail. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested and document ALL aspects related to the certification. Keep copies of all documentation for your records.

Once these creeps receive that certified letter, they can no longer contact you by phone. They can only send ONE (1) letter notifying you of further action regarding the matter. Typically, this is the point at which bottom-feeding collection agencies disappear like a fart in the wind.

It's not enough to attempt to "sound" like you know what you're talking about. You have to take the correct steps to protect yourself by using every tool the law allows.

Send a Registered, Return receipt requested Letter to them

Put the registered number IN the letter Prominently (Keep a copy) and state they CANNOT call you, only Contact MUST be by US Mail ONLY (USPS)

If they call again, you've got them, sue for damages and it's a slam dunk win.

I highly recommend "budhibbs.com" He helped me some year ago and I recommend him whenever I can.(He's free too)

At the time I had a stroke (Mostly Healed now) Lost my job (Machinist, could not hold the very fine tolerances then) and NCO harassed the s**t out of me, they didn't get One damned cent. (Mainly because I was very broke, Unemployed and Disabled), now i live on Disability (Can't touch that) and I'm recovering.

BUT THEY DON'T GIVE A S***, and wanted CASH NOW, so now that I'm somewhat recovered, I' don't either.

SCREW THEM, THEY'RE JUST THIEVES
