Out of the blue I recieve a bill with a different persons name from this collection agency for $467. I have no knowledge of this bill, none of the information they have is mine except the address. It has shown up on my credit report and I am having a hard time convincing anyone this is not my debt. It is hurting my credit rating along with annoying calls. I think they just send bills randomly without checking any info. Scam in my book.

It would not show up in your credit bureau unless someone had your SSN.  You need to do 4 things ASAP.  1.  Contact the original creditor and let them know that someone else inclured this debt by means of fraud and that you are not the responsible party and that if they do not clear up the derogatory information on your credit file you will sue them, 2.  File a police report of the fraud - make sure the original creditor has a copy of this as proof this line of credit taken out in your name was done so fraudlently, 3. Place a fraud alert on your credit bureau file so that no one else can open a line of credit in your name.  4.  Provide a copy of the police report and a cease communications letter via certified mail to NCO explaining that you are NOT the debtor and that they are a. not to contact you further b. place any derogatory information on your credit bureau file.

Lastly, do NOT pay NCO a dime.
