Yesterday my wife received a letter from the National arbitration Forum dated 9/10/08 which advised that A) she was the respondent in a matter before the arbitration company, B) that NCO Financial Systems, Inc. was the claimant in an amount in excess of $1,500 (listed the exact amount) and C) that as a result of our unconntested arbitration hearing, claimant was awarded the full amount sought.

I am a recently licensed attorney in IL so when I saw the envelope, with the return address section indicating this Nat'l Arb. Forum, I thought it was another in a spate of mailings I have been receiving since passing the Bar exam. However, it was addressed to my wife, in her formerly married name. After I read the letter, I asked her if she remembered ever seeing correspondence from any of the companies involved (NO) and if she ever signed for a letter or package since we moved into our home over a year ago (again, NO). I came to work and started researching both companies, and found this site.

I'm hoping for some insight here from you, good readers. I see a bunch of reports involving NCO and their various subsidiaries, but has anyone had any contact with this, or any other, arbittration company in Minneapolis? Let me know.

I've left a message for the woman who signed the letter, but have not heard back, and am not - ahem - holding my breath.

Thanks,

Tgoggs

Did you contact the NAF to see if it's legit as well?

Also, I can't remember where I read it, but I swear a government agency recently came down on one of the large arbitration forums because it seemed that they allowed improper service on old addresses and basically was a rubber stamp for the credit card companies...something worth checking into.

Good luck!
