Yes, it is all legal.  In 2008, my son at 18 and in college had no idea what he was getting into.  He did'nt have the money to join the buying club, let alone go off on a vacation or buy some of the so-called good deals on electronics and other things NDI offered.  He changed his mind when he realized that he could not afford it.  However, it was after the 3 day period in which he could cancel.  The document he signed was a binding contract and NDI threatened to ruin his credit if he didn't pay the $1,500 he had agreed to pay.  My son started paying and paid approximately $600, for which he received nothing, before he finally stopped making payments.

The year now is 2011 and NDI did as threatened:  It ruined his credit.  NDI has debt collectors still calling at least monthly and sometimes weekly.  My son has graduated and unfortunately, I now have his phone.  I told the debt collectors it is my phone now and to stop calling.  NDI simply has another collection agency call the number.  Is there any justice?

The moral of this story is inform your child before he or she goes off to college, service or anywhere, not to sign any agreements or contracts without checking with parents or an attorney first.
