Need4digital Unauthorized Charges to my credit card New York New York
I don't know if there is already a thread about this somewhere. If there is already one I apologize. I did several searches & didn't see anything.
I'm usually a cautious online consumer. I tend to look into retailers before a big purchase. If I'm on ebay I only buy from somebody who has a ton of positive feedback. But I didn't do any research in my latest purchase which was for a camera.
I ordered a Canon PowerShot SD1100 from NEED4DIGITAL.com yesterday. I found them in several searches including Google Shopping, and a bunch of others & they were always the cheapest. It was something like $180 with the s/h. I got an email back from them in an hour telling me I needed to get in touch with them before they could complete my purchase. I called them & the customer service person told me they no longer had the SD1100 in stock - but would give me the newer SD1200 for the same price. Ok - that sounded great to me. Everything else was going to be the same - same s/h price & date of delivery. Sure, works for me.
I got a phone call back from one of their "customer service" people an hour later telling me that they also had a deal on a package which could go along with it. I asked him what was in it & he told me all kinds of quick rechargers, extended life batteries, bigger memory chips etc.... I told him I might be interested if he could give me some specifics. He started to rattle off a bunch of descriptions for each of them really quick. I got on their site as he was going off & none of his descriptions matched anything they were offering online. I asked him to point it out on their web site & he told me he couldn't get on their web site. I told him I wasn't interested, just send the camera.
But that phone call left such a bad feeling with me that I decided to call them today & verify the specifics of my order again. As it turns out they had included the whole package with my purchase - and I was now being billed $399. At that point I was super-pissed & told them to cancel the order. They told me it was too late. I told them I was going to cancel the payment for it so they might as well cancel the order. At that point the guy asked me my age. I told them it didn't matter. And then he said "Well act your age, not your shoe size." - and hung up on me.
I've now opened a dispute case with my credit card company.
