I still haven't received any refund or an apology from this company, so I'm reposting a review I did in Oct 2012 on MyMovingReviews.com. Beware of this company!! They will lie to you, and they will take your money.

First off, any good reviews of them should be examined closely for formulation, as sites like this sometimes have company PR people come in and write phantom reviews to raise the ratings and public image of the company. Simply put, Neighbors Moving and Storage should not be trusted, and you should be very careful dealing with them. Just read past reviews for proof.

I'll keep it brief. Early in Sept I was offered a position in Florida, meaning I would have to move from Maryland at the end of the month. I sent out some feeler emails to companies on a Sunday thinking that they'd get back to me with quotes by Monday. Shawn T. from Neighbors Moving and Storage called me within a few minutes to set up a move date. After a few minutes of haggling (where he got off the phone and confirmed a lower price for me with his "manager"),

I finally pinned down a price of $1,593. I was still hesitant, so he assured me that he would "meet or beat" any price I found. That seemed fair enough, so I paid the security deposit to secure a truck (that he told me happened to be coming down to Florida that weekend), and got off the phone. I found an email from a competitor with a much lower number ($1,070 to be exact) and emailed Shawn with the price for him to match. I never heard back.

The next day I emailed him again. Still nothing. I called him the next day, he picked up, gave me an excuse that they must have been going to some "automated system," and I reconfirmed his email address. I sent him the info and still never heard back. I called again a week later and was told that Shawn was gone on vacation, so I spoke to Richard Roman, who told me that he would take the quote and forward it to the right people. I never heard back from Richard either, and a few days later an email came from quality assurance guy, Karl Williamson, asking me if my inventory was correct.

I replied that the items were correct, but I was very unhappy that they were ignoring me and that I needed someone to confirm a price for me. I never heard back, so the next day I called and asked to speak to the legal department. Keisha told me that they didn't have one, so I demanded to speak to her manager. She told me that he was on the phone, so I asked again to speak to their legal department, telling her if they didn't have one they better hire one fast.

She finally forwarded me to Karl, who kept me on the phone for 20 minutes trying to avoid answering direct questions, until finally I point blank told him that I was planning on cancelling and pressing charges. This woke him up, and I was able to confirm that there was no "day-of" penalty for cancelling my move, so if I didn't trust the movers when they showed up (read the reviews of Father & Sons and All Points Movers) I could cancel my reservation.

This didn't make me feel any better, and since I was moving in literally 3 days I locked down a BudgetTruck and got a friend to help me move. I called my bank and credit card company (Neighbors took money from two different accounts, because I didn't have enough in my bank account to cover the deposit), and they said to notify the company of termination in advance so I did. Karl must have ignored that email too, because the movers still called me the day before to confirm. Then Karl called. He called again a few hours later, I still didn't pick up. I was done with these people. Then a girl named Shay called and told me that they were "voiding" my transaction, saying that the money never moved and that I'd have my money back once they cancelled it.

After a month, I still haven't got my money back. Karl called again the next morning, for the last time. I guess he deleted my email saying that I was cancelling my reservation. It's inconvenient being ignored, isn't it guys?

In the end, I lost over $2000 dealing with these people: the $619.26 for the deposit, $950 for a Budget Truck because I didn't trust their movers, $120 on the plane ticket I never got to use because I was driving 17 hrs to Florida, and the $500 in gas I spent driving that 17 hours.

Read the reviews! See for yourself what a sham this company is. We need legislation to fight companies like this, because it is one of the most unregulated businesses in the United States.
