My Fiance' and I used Neighbors based on a recommendation of a friend of a friend, BIG MISTAKE. The movers that actually did our move were from Father and Sons, which is the same company.

The first day of our move they were to arrive by 2pm, they arrived 10pm, then freaked out that two of them(we had contracted for three) couldn't move it all and it was too late, and they would be back at 8am the next morning. They called at 9am and showed up at 10am the next morning, and it was the same two from the night before. The whined and complained the whole move about how it was too much for them and that we were going to ahve to pay more money, but couldn't tell us how much time. We gave the scheduler all of the room dimensions and number and types of furniture so there should have been any guessing or mis-understandings.

It took the movers about 3 hours to move our items, mainly because we didn't want to get charged extra so we busted buns that morning and moved a lot of smaller items on our own, and we broke down beds and anything else prior to them moving anything.

The move went pretty well, but whoa and behold the last piece of furniture, the heaviest, and most expensive, a nice oak entertainment center we had purchased two months prior to the move, it was brand new, weighed 230 pounds and cost $600 from American Furniture Warehouse. The movers decided to shortcut between our new house and a bush and clipped it on the bricks nicking the front of the entertainment console. They didn't care, and said to call in to file an insurance claim.

We called, they mailed us a claim form, a bad copy crooked on the page, we filled it out and sent it in Fedex with Signature required. Two weeks later we get a letter, no response, just a photocopy of our moving contract with several lines highlighted with a marker, stating basically that they'ed cover the damage but only a certain amount of dollars per pound up to a certain amount of pounds, AND there is a built in deductible, so they would give us like $50 and we would have to give them our entertainment console. NOT!!!

PROS:

They moved our furnishings.

CONS:

They were late the first day, my fiance' missed work and pay waiting for nothing.

They were late the SECOND day.

They only showed with 2 movers instead of the 3 we contracted for, then billed us more because it took them more hours.

One of the movers was a convicted criminal, we noticed part way through our move under his baggy pants that he had an ankle monitor on. NICE, we want someone that was convicted of a crime moving our homes belongings. NO!!!

They damaged the most expensive single piece of furniture we had them move, out of pure laziness.

They claim that they are bonded and insured, however, their insurance is bordering on fraudulent, the terms of it would NEVER pay off for anyone for anything near what they damaged would be worth. I guess the average person that they move has particle board furniture(which they can damage at will as that is not covered at all), and don't have to worry if they break something because they will NEVER have to pay off.

I am in the midst of reporting them to both the Colorado and Florida States Attorney Generals(their parent company is in Florida, and where your insurance claims and deninals go to and from).

Maybe all moving companies are like this, I don't know as I have not used any others, but this one, under BOTH of their names is an experience I would NOT recommend.

When it comes down to it they do not care about you as a customer, your move is just one of many in their cattle call of moves for a given day. Everyone doing the work is a contractor of some type and doesn't really care about the quality, or lack there of, the work that they are doing.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY IF YOU ARE SMART!!!

NORMAL INSURANCE FRAUD PRACTICES

Reading this brings back memories of how "Neighbors" in Pompano Beach, Florida pulled the same insurance scam on my wife and I (read report#417071). Our property sustained documented damages of $1300.00 and after having to send the pictures, notarized documentation and waiting four weeks they finally sent us a check for $296.00.

They nicely reminded us by sending a highlighted copy of the contract back to us that we foolishly agreed to insurance at a "pounds rate system" instead of true value whereas they only have to pay pennies on the dollar for damages. Nothing like saying ("Hey stupid consumer, you agreed to this! Ha-Ha!).

Do yourselves a favor and NEVER, I MEAN NEVER, use this company or recommend them to anyone. If by me keeping up on this site regularly saves at least one other innocent victim from falling prey to their criminal acts it will all be worth it.

After all. If I stop one person from using them that will take away 50% of their business. The only reason this company probably uses this mobster mentality is because their business is slowing dying and their running out of money.

A company can only get away with business practices like this for so long before they go down the toilet in flames! Lets just hope it's soon!
