I contacted Neighbors Moving & Storage to move a relatives Household Goods, which had passed away, from Colorado to Georgia. They where very nice and pleasant when we where setting very thing up. They packed the Goods up on the 7th of July and during the packing they took numerous smoke breaks and a lunch break then they asked for a tip!! Oh, it took 11 hours to pack!! One other thing about the packing, they charged me $2000.00 up front for the boxes and I was told by the packers that there was no charge for the labor. The next day they call me to charge me $724.00 for the packing, which I thought they would take out of the $2000.00 I had already paid and they would credit the rest to my account. I found out later that it was an additional charge. Well, they picked the Goods up on the 8th of July and I was told the it would arrive in Georgia approx. around the 17th or 18th of July and they would call me around two days before. The 17th and the 18th came, and nothing!! After numerous calls I contacted someone and I was told that the truck that was to bring my Goods was having brake problems and they had to take it to the repair shop and I would get the shipment on the 25th of July. I asked them called me 3 or 4 days before it arrives so that I could set up arrangements at my job, because I had already took off a day. Well, they didn't show and I had to call them again to find out what happen. They told me that the repair shop was backed up and they didn't get to the truck, but they send another truck over and transfer it over. I was to receive the shipment on the 31st of July and they was sorry for the inconvenience. The 31st came and guess what!! NO SHIPMENT AGAIN!! AND NO CALL!! After numerous calls again they told me that it wasn't transfered to another truck and that it would be transfered and it will arrive on the 5th of August. I mentioned to the General Manager that I was very unhappy with the service and that I should get a discount for the inconvenience I had been put through and the days I had to take off from work. I did get a discount...$250.00. :-( I was in the service for 22 years and I made 11 moves. this was the 12th and the worse I have ever been through!!! They didn't seem to care about what they had put me through and they did all they could do. SO MUCH FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! I would not and I will not recommend this company to anyone to have their Household Goods or anything to be move, even just down the street.

JUSTIFYING 32 DAYS FOR A MOVE?

#3Consumer Comment

Mon, February 02, 2009

You have got to be kidding!? You are justifying taking 33 days for this move? The excuses you give are totally bull****! I know from experience that it is all due to overbooking for the company to make as much money as possible and hit as many stops as possible along the way. If you drove backwards it would not take 33 days to get from Colorado to Georgia no matter how bad the traffic or weather.

And as far as the "thousands of customers," I think that is a bit overzealous. With your companies "F" rating with the BBB and all the complaints (19 on Ripoff Report and 57 with the BBB), there are quite a few more complaints than a couple.

Your company needs to stop ripping off consumers to make a profit. If you cannot profit the honest way then you have no business being in business. But then like most South Florida companies, it comes down to screw the consumer for the dollar.

I know from experience that your company practices dishonesty, misrepresentation, price gouging, the holding of consumers property for more money upon delivery, illegal and unregistered trucks and the using of low cost un-insured labor for loading/unloading. If they damage property during the load/unload your excuse is, "They are sub-contractors and we are not responsible".

Great business practices. And if you say this is unsubstaniated allegations just go to the BBB and see it in their own words!

DO EVERYONE A FAVOR AND CLOSE YOUR DOORS! ALL CONSUMERS SHOULD AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE! CHECK WITH THE BBB FOR DETAILS.

Long Distance Moves

#3UPDATE Employee

Fri, September 26, 2008

This rebuttal is to let consumers know that we do thousands of moves each year. Out of these thousands of moves performed, a complaint may surface from time to time. And each time, we address it and offer compensation when necessary.

Long distance moves require spread times for delivery. This consumer claims that they were delivered late--our standard is to discount them 5-10% if warranted. We did give a discount to this customer within our company standard. Uncontrollable factors, such as traffic, weather and load times affect our spread. Many customers do not realize that our hands are tied sometimes and we cannot deliver in the expected time frame due to these unforseen circumstances.

We do have many referrals of satisfied customers and have letters of recommendation to prove it. One unsatisfied customer out of thousands should not be a complete reflection on how we operate.
