Neptune Society Cremation Ripoff -Erroneous Unarthorized Charges San Pedro, California
This is the biggest scam going in the cremation industry! They were extremely attentive and helpful re: my father's death and associated cremation needs UP UNTIL they received my mother's credit card. AFter that point we never rec'd responses or acknowledgements to any emails or calls. Finally would have to show up at their offices to get answers. Cremation services took place in Sept and in Oct we saw the same invoice charged TWICE on my mother's Visa. Assuming as simple mistake, we had a heck of a time getting someone to call us back to resolved in November. They assured us it charges would be reversed. In December we called their corporate office in Florida and were assured this was "not how business is done at Neptune" and they apologized profusely assuring charges would be reversed no later than Mid January. As of February 10, 2010, no return calls or emails and no reverse charges. We now believe this is a scam they have going.

Incorrect Credit Card Charges
#2Consumer Suggestion
Tue, April 30, 2013
When a company incorrectly charges your credit card, either with a duplicate charge, or with additional charges that you were not aware of, you do have a course of action. There are laws in all States that protect you.
First off, you have to call your Credit Card's Customer Service Number, it is always listed on the back of your Card, and let them know that you are disputing certain charges placed against your card. Tell them the specifics - what charges, and why you believe they are in error. Credit Card companies must put those charges aside, i.e. not bill you for them, while they investigate your claims.
Second, after you report the incorrect charges by phone, you should make a written report, and mail it to the Credit Card Company's address (usually printed on one of your statements, or can be found online). Most, if not all States, require a written report, as well as a verbal report.
The Credit Card Company's Fraud Department will investigate your claims, and if found to be true, they will Reverse the Charge(s) so you will not have to pay for them.
This is a common occurance now a days with stolen cards, stolen numbers, and the like. It's happened to me on numerous occasions over the years, and as long as I follow the Law, as well as the Card Company's procedures, I am never erroneously charged.
