In trying to find an 'honest' people search site, I took the recommendation of Consumer's Guide online saying this company was honest, accurate and thorough. I paid a 'discounted' fee for 3 yrs, of $19.95 (from $29.95). I was immediately asked for another $10.00 for the info I was told on site I would get to begin with. The $10.00 was for 3 days! Not only was there no such info given which I know is avail. , but it said "Nothing Found" for info already free on other sites, there was absoluely no info given that I originally was seeking and paid for. Upon cross-checking with definite available info and repeatedly getting "None Found", it became rather obvious it was just another RIPOFF! Phone calls to their phone number in Florida are a farce. You get a recording telling you "HD Publishing has two search site, Web Detective and Cyber Search - it then directs you to the so-called customer sevice rep for whichever company, then it just goes blank - there is no answer". No matter what time I called or how long I held, it was the same. Faxes were also ignored. There is a reference to "hdpublishing.com" for online help, cancellation, questions. It also is useless. There is a guarantee or all money refunded. It's a scam! I cancelled immediately but it doesn't seem to matter. I got so upset after being faced with just one more online search scam that I had a heart attack and had to be rushed to hospital. I just got out and I'm madder than ever. It's not worth my life! But it isn't right! I wasn't looking to uncover 'dirt' about a neighbor. It was simple, honest info needed. I'm out $30.00, not to mention the exorbitant hospital and ambulance. I just want the $30. back, but mostly, want everyone to know this company is a fraud and don't listen to Consumer's Guide. Obviously neither can be trusted.

I would have to agree with you that Net Detective is a bait and switch service and provides little more than the dozens of other places that are ripping consumers off. I did a search for a relative's girlfried. They did the same thing to me. You sign up with your credit card for $29.95, then you have to pay a $10 processing fee and another $29.95 per monthly service fee to try and find out anything worthwhile. After doing so, I didn't find out a thing more than what would show up already for free. They have over 200+ complaints filed with the BBB.
