I went to the NetDetective site today. I had forgotten my password. I thought I had cancelled my subscription a few months ago, but I noticed it on my credit card bill. So I thought since I got no useful information the one or two times I tried it after I subscribed to it, I would give it another try. Big mistake!

It was like pulling teeth! I kept getting a message that the email had been sent to the email address I provided. The email never arrived. I tried for hours periodically to get my password but no email ever came.

I tried several more times during the day and no email ever arrived. I tried on their site to resolve the problem. I found a page that was supposed to contain Customer Service or Support and Billing. There was nothing useful and no contact info.

I decided to see what the registration page would do. It asked me for my name and email and all then asked me for my ingoing and outgoing mail servers. I didn't know so I called my ISP and the technician seemed concerned.

He told me what the servers were but he asked why these people were wanting that info. I didn't know. He said no one should be needing that info. He said I should not finish the form and should not send them that information.

I wonder now what else they wanted to investigate! Like I said, it sounded shady. And I hope I can unsubscribe without getting half of the state involved!
