Complaint Review: NetDetectivePlus

I wanted to use this group to help locate information for a college reunion. The price did not seem too bad so I signed up for $29 then added $10 to try Net Detective Plus for 3 days, understanding that if I did not cancel I would be charged $29.95 per month. The information was worthless, outdated, and nonsensical. I told about 8 friends the information I found about them and every one of them, and including me, found glaring inaccuracies...marriages where there were none, houses valued about 8-10 times more than the actual value, spouses listed at the address though they had never lived and the couple had been divorced at least 20 years. Moreover, even on the Advanced site, almost all the information is listed as "unknown."

When I checked my Master Card statement four days later I saw that I had been charged, $29.00 and $10 (that I knew I would be charged for) and then also showed that I was charged $29.95 four days, later...a total almost $70 in four days.

When I tried to contact "Customer Service" I encountered rude, hateful people, including two who claimed to be supervisors who hung up on me, then cancelled my subscription service, without my authorization, while never explaining why I was charged $70 in four days for duplicate service. Obviously any fool would understand that I could not possibly be using two different versions of the same worthless information. These

I intended to cancel anyway, as stated in their policy, but when I contacted Master Card and explained the situation to them, they promised to dispute the charge. We will see if I ever get back one cent.

Please, please, please take this as a warning. Do not ever use this service. The information is worthless and outdated. The Customer Service department is rude, offensive, and not at all helpful.

Your only recourse is through your credit card. Repeat...do not use them. They are crooks.
