On 3/16/24, T-mobile got an authorization for $524.00 via a internet application, the application nevr processed due to a computer failure on their end. I spoke with T-mobile and they immediately released the funds and canceled the transaction. I told (Netspend) of the error however, to this day they have still refused to release these funds. They requested that I have T-mobile provide proof that the transaction was cancelled. I spoke with a T-mobile supervisor who provided me with an (order number) and directed to an site where i could retrieve a document showing that the transaction was (Canceled). I submitted this document to (Netspend) but they continue to insist on further proof that the tranaction was cancelled even though it's been over a week and (T-mobile) has not sought a charge for the authorization. The staff and supervisors at (Netspend) are very hostile leaving me on hold for over 30-minutes and verbally aggressive as well. Due to the the evidence and/or document I submitted which I agreed that they too could retrieve from (T-mobile) with my consent, leads me to believe that there's a possibility of diversion of funds (for profit) or (Money Laundering). Many of the complaints on the internet lean in the direction of (Funds Misappropriation) and I intend on filing a (Class Action Suit), there's no way this behavior in the same time-frame is a coincidence.

I had the same Issue with a car rental

#2Consumer Suggestion

I had the same issue with my Netspend card and a UHaul rental.  It was not to exceed $100, and they took another $200 out of my account, on top of that, I stupidly did it twice thinking it would fix itself when I canceled it, it did not. This money was supposed to pay part of the first month's rent (a total of $400). They also do that for hotel rentals and a few other things, at various amounts I believe.

I called both UHaul and NetSpend Relentlessly to find out the necessary steps to take.  Which was to have UHaul's Manager fax to Netspend, an authorization to release funds, including certain specific information.  UHaul did that immediatly, yet NetSpend did not release the funds immediatly, so I continued to call them and do as they said. UHaul ended up having to re-send that fax a week later, so it took about 2 weeks. I did got my money back though.

The issue? A lazy manager at NetSpend that did not promptly and thoroughly do her job the first time a fax was sent. I hope that if you do this all over again and do not stop calling (Literally, every day), they will give it to you.

I also recommend, if you are currently in this position with them, or a similar situation with another company, to get the first and last name and ID#, if they have one, and work with them only, and their manager if/when it is necessary.  That way they are familiar with the issue and you can build a rapport with them, thus making them WANT to RETURN YOUR money. Don't be mean, it will make the agent aggravated as it is not their fault, it is the companies fault. Instead appeal to their human side, ask for help, and they tend to be a little more helpful. I have found that doing that with companies generally works, though not always. I have also been on the other end of that call or desk more times than I can count, just not with this kind of company or this company.

In addition, I would recommend against Netspend cards in general.  They charge you $1.00 per debit or credit charge, and any amount between $1.00 and $8.00 to withdrawl from the atm, though usually $1.00-$6.00. I have found the more money you withdrawl, the more they charge you.  Which, you won't find out about until you check your balance, AFTER you finish the transaction.
