I seen this NetSpend Visa Prepaid Debit Card in a rack among many other cards, I seen this one as a way to buy something online.  At the top it says $3.95 and below that it says - PURCHASE AND LOAD WITH CASH - This does not mean you are only going to pay $3.95 to use - this $3.95 is just to buy the card to load with your money thats all. The $3.95 charge does not mean you will not be charged more money. Every time you use the card, you will be charged for any and all transaction fee's.

So lets say you have a bill that needs to be paid over the internet for $150.00, so you buy this card for $3.95 plus tax, you hand the clerk $155.00 she/he loads the card with $150.00 then you read on the back you need to goto netspend and sign up for the card in order to use it - so they can send you a prepaid card with your name on it, then once you sign up for that, then they activate the card for you - IT WAS NEVER ACTIVATED AT THE STORE :-( So now you find out once you sign up for this prepaid card that you will be charged each time you use it, this means you better add another amount depending on how many times you might use it. The $150.00 I put on the card only depends on how many times I use it, I went to pay for something online only to have it declined until its activated - thats how I found out I needed to sign up for the netspend credit card, Then I found out that my $150.00 bill is only going to get $148.00 paid because of the charges for using the card - so whats the $4.00 for the card? - why not offer the card for free? you will make alot more. plus I talked to them and they said they will put the details on the package. yeah right - NOT. The scam is that you pay and then are forced to sign up in order to get the money you put on it, its a forced issue.  The only great thing is I get one with my name on it, its only going to be good for what I place on it aka load onto it, I get charges for using it, you will not know how much until you get charges.  Scam in my eyes is the fact it uses the prepaid word - its not prepaid until you sign up.

net spend is a scam . I got one of their cards . to replace the green dot card that I had .( both are prepaid card)  net spend took $20 dollar from me . I kept track of my spending and their was no reason for the 20 to be gone .  a phone call to the card company got a robot  .a visit to the website got me angry ( I already was angry by then) not lisa is not lieing . they are nothing but con artists preying on folks who have bad credit  .  when you deal with prepaid cards one must be careful becasue people like netspend are waiting to take your money from you . it is my advise to get prepaid card from walmart and only from walmart .

you will still pay fees for the card  but at least the money will end up on the card . which may or may not happen with net spend . stay away from net spend . if you have them now  get you money from them and cut up the card . before they cheat you out of it.

Its funny how you say what you say, I'm sure you got no credit other than this card, so its good for people who don't have credit, this is not a card that is a one time card. Its great because of the way you're using it and its great for not getting into debt. The problem I have is that I pay for a prepaid card and could not use the card after I paid and put money on it. If I buy a prepaid card for $3.95 plus tax, That seems like a great deal, prepaid means you place money down and use the service, Not sure you understand that. I had other prepaid cards and I think it should be changed right away, how do you like that. Its pay per use, you pay $1.00 per purchase. But wait, the was the $3.95 for? , maybe its suggestive that you paid the service charge to use it, Nope its the charge to buy the card and load your money on it, I hope you're not that dumb to trust them with a paycheck. You better look to see what has happend already, once you sign up, your all set to be a victim of credit card fraud. , by the way Lisa, how did you find my post? , what did you do a search for? why did you do a search? why are you pointing out that you had the card for how many years? why do you sound like an ad? - Lisa - do you work or get paid for posting what you posted? - tell me why your doing nothing but defending them? You have been exposed Lisa

Well Lisa - its not a problem to own one if you use it the way you use it, I can buy a Speedway Card thats prepaid and use it right away with no sign up fee's and no per use charges, so go back to work or is this your job? - maybe you get paid to watch for this type of stuff and jump on the little fires to put them out. I know how it works lady - if you are involved with them in any such way, you can be get in big trouble for, you already are a liar for saying they don't charge per use. I have proof of this, oh wait, do I have to pay more to not be charged per use ?

Ok Lisa - shuddup and stop lying to people

NO PROBLEMS HERE

This is most certainly a prepaid card, and there is not a fee for using it each time you use it.  There is one fee plan that charges you each time, but this is not the only option.

I have had a Netspend card for the past 2-3 years, and I love it.  I still have a normal bank as well, but I love the Netspend card because the direct deposit is posted sooner than with my normal bank.  I pay a flat $5.00/month, and I can use my card as much as I want with no additional fees other than the standard ATM fees that all banks charge if you don't use their ATMs.

I have had a problem here or there, but I think all in all, I've only had to call them maybe 3 times.  Each time, even though the customer service might be outsourced to India, they have taken care of the problem in a timely manner.

Other than the direct deposit getting posted sooner, the other huge advantage to them is that you have no spending limit.  You can only draw out so much cash daily, but if you have $5000 on your card, you can make a $5000 purchase, whereas a bank will most likely have a daily purchase limit.  Another great advantage to this card is that you can create a "virtual" account.  This will allow you to purchase online without risking your card information.  You simply log into your account and create a virtual card number.  This allows you to use this card number for your one time purchase.  You can then deactivate that card number so that no one else can charge anything on it.  When you're ready to use it online again, simply create another virtual card.  This keeps your information safeguarded against fraudulent use.

I love my card, and I hope that you will continue to use yours.  Don't let your first initial experience deter you from using this wonderful card.  It's well worth it!
