Complaint Review: NetZERO

I noticed a fraudulent charge on my credit card bill yesterday from NetZero, (I never activated this account) so I called netZERO to discuss it, get my $10 bucks refunded and cancel the fraudulent account.

Netzero had my proper name, address and phone number... And the charge was on my credit card bill, but for some reason, when Netzero billing people asked me for the "last four" of the credit card on file, it did not match. Being that the charge IS ON MY BILL, I realized that whoever signed up with my card, simply changed the
credit card on file so I could not call and cancel it. DUH!

I spoke with "Kate" in billing (she said she was "not at liberty" to give me her last name)....very helpful.

After having pleaded with "Kate" to close the account and help out in any way-- she refused -- I have since disputed the charge with my bank, filled a complaint with BBB and closed that account.

Lord knows what fraud is being committed online with MY good name attached to it. And god help netZERO for being SO desperate for $9.95 that they would rather let BLATANT criminal activity thrive unstopped than cancel one stupid dial-up internet account.

So to all the winners at netZERO, way to go! You all are like your name, A ZERO.
