Complaint Review: Cross Country Bank

Never trust Cross Country Bank, They are the biggest rip-off artists ever.

We only applied for a Cross Country Visa to try to build our credit up after my husband was disabled at work and we fell behind on our bills. First, I set the payments up to come directly out of our checking account, so that they would always be paid on time. I received a letter from them stating the dates that our payments would be taken out for the next three months. All of a sudden, I had about 4 checks bounce. The actually took the payment out two weeks early!!! I called and complained to everyone I could talk to, but nothing was ever done about it. Finally, we paid our balance in full in February and cut the card up and sent it back. Then, we started getting bills for a monthly maintenance fee. We are now up to owing about $90.00 again and we've not had the card since February. These people call us 5 times a day and we've explained that the card was cut up and sent back, but they continue to call!!!!! Does anyone know a good lawyer?

But what do you do in regards to an overpayment?

Tyler,

Your comments are fine for closing an account, but what do you do when there is an overpayment (this is a year old) and your company refuses to refund the money?

Do you think that is fair? There is nothing in your paperwork that says CCB has the legal right to keep your overpayment or can write it off. It also is not fair that CCB put slanderous information on my credit report after I paid the bill because I have called to try to obtain my money back.

Can you answer this? You seem to have all the answers, like Sarah. And for your information, sometimes the reps on the other end get belligerant-I have these calls on a recorded line from my place of employment since December 2001. I never called anyone any names, I may have got angry and maybe raised my voice a little more than I should, but it was after a CCB rep got annoyed with me for calling to inquire about my money.

Tyler and Sarah, do you think you can get my money back? Or are you like all the rest and full of lies and hot air?

Thank you Sarah for taking the time to write the
exact words that i was thinking while reading
these complaints.

When a customer wants their account closed, they
should cut-up the card and send it in with their
next payment, that is, if the customer decides
to pay. Then call in (thats if you have taken
the time to write down our toll-free number, rather than curse and scream at us, or turn
your fax machine on) to let the customer service
rep know that you want to cancel the card. How
is Cross Country Bank going to know you cut-up
your card and threw it away?

Also, our representatives do not call people and
curse at them, its the other way around. My
associates and I call cardholders for long hours, being yelled at by 40 or 50 people.

Lied to by many people. Some will say that the
customer has moved to another state 3 months
ago, though we may have spoken to them 2 days
ago at that exact phone number.

Many will say that the cardholder is deceased, though someone at their job thinks that the person will be in at 5pm. I'm not saying that all of these complaints are frivolous, but most could be resolved by taking the time to find a copy of
the cardholders agreement, and reading it.

Most people will find that the fees were all outlined on that little piece of paper.

Here is a questions for all you CCB people.....

When people payoff their credit cards, is it fair that yor company keeps the overpayment and writes it off?

Is it fair that when I call up to inquire about my overpayment to be returned, you make me jump through hoops for nothing because someone has taken my money and put it in their own pocket?

Is it fair to transfer me all over the place?

Is it fair to put inaccurate and slanderous information on my credit report?

If you think I have gone away, think again. I will be back and I will obtain my money.

We can play nice or we can have the court award me my money. And it will be for much more than what I overpaid.

Can you answer my questions Sarah? You seem to have all the answers.

This is to Sarah in Ashland, Kentucky:
How old are you? 17, maybe 18 years old. If you're older than that, then I would be embarrased. From the way you're responding to the very real concerns of your customers, you sound very immature. First of all, most mature people realize that the life of any business are there customers, whom you seem not to appreciate.

You ought to be glad when people call you up to complain, that means you still have a job to go to. I have many credit cards, and not one of the companies treat me the way you treat your customers.

ALWAYS REMEMBER, THAT NOTHING LASTS FOREVER --
REMEMBER ENRON, BECAUSE THAT CAN BE YOUR COMPANY, AND THAT MEANS YOU CAN BE OUT OF A JOB!!! PLEASE GROW UP AND TREAT PEOPLE THE WAY YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED -- NICELY AND WITH RESPECT.

No one in their right mind wants to be treated like a dog on the street. Do you, Sarah???

First and foremost i would like to point out that all credit cards havd fees, due dates, and consequences. All you cardholders do is sign for the card, use it, then refuse to pay it back. You lose you job, wait like 6 months to tell us and then want us to cater to you like babies and take off the fees where you havent paid for months.

When are out of work you should contact us immediately. You all whine and complain and do everything possible to not speak to us. You act like children, screaming and cussing and flat out being rude when we call.

Why should we use manners and be so nice to you when you are the ones who owe us money and refuse to pay it back. You all tell us to get real jobs but we wouldnt have our job if you would pay your bill. yes we call on sundays and holidays but its your fault.

we have things we like to do on those days too but since you all wont get off your butts and work we have to call you to remind you that you never paid. if we didnt call or send letters you would complain that we never contacted you. all you all do is whine and complain and never try to help yourselves. the more you hang up and refuse the more we call.

its that simple. when there is credit card that has no fees and lets you pay when you feel like paying please let tha world know. we allow you to set up arrangements and use the consolidation nonsense to get by, when in reality all it comes down to is that you owe us money and the more days you let go by without paying the more fees and interest you get therefore you will pay more.

instead of being smart and working out an agreement that would benfit you and stop the calls. all the cardholders need to grow up and take responsibility for their debts. we work hard, long hours trying to help them and they are just rude and say that they dont care.

so if all you dont care like you say you do on the phone then why are you taking the time to write all these complaints. you all are all big and bad talkers on the phone-you willl make a rude comment than hang right without hearing our response becaue you are little whinny, lazy, individuals that cant take the heat of your own debt.

why has this buisiness been allowed to continue operation? this is as much the fault of the authorities as cross country. a harassment specialist just called, looking for my wife...and said he was a friend of hers from work. after grilling him with questions...i found out he was 17 and not a friend at all. he lied and mis-led me and this is not right. who lets these people get away with this stuff? ive called the b.b.b and an attorney who feeds on this stuff. if that doesent work...

anyone has any suggestions

I have recently received a letter from a lawyer in which Cross Country has obtained to go after me for $27.00 dollars.

I paid my credit card off one year ago and now they send me a letter saying if I don not pay this amount I will be reported to the credit bureau. Why, did they wait so long to get a hold of me? Why, did they not send me a last bill?

They have refused to tell me what the $27.00 dollars is for. I have not used this card and in fact I cut it up and threw it away.I am going to find a way to pursue this legally. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know by posting your Suggestions below. Thanks.
