I applied for a job at this place called New Business Concepts I saw on Indeed.com. I got a call within hours for an interview the next day. I wanted to check out their website and noticed the website gave very little information about what exactly the company was or what they did. I figured I'd find out at the interview and went ahead with it. The interview lasted about 5 minutes and they said that it was the first of 3 potential interviews, I also learned they do outsorce markting and currently work with Verizon Fios. I didn't really understand what that meant but I didn't think much of it and the interview ended shortly. The woman said I'd get a call around 5 that evening to let me know if I made the 2nd round interview. I had no idea how they would have enough information to determine anything but things seemed to go well so I left. Sure enough I got a call that afternoon inviting me back. At the time I was happy but looking back they probably called every jamoke that walked in and was capable of tying their own shoes.

I went back two days later for my second round interview and one of the sales reps took me out for a cup of coffee and told me about what the job is. The guy showed me their system to start people off as a sales rep and move them to a management position within a year or two. The program and compinsation sounded good. He also said that the sales was done in person but Verizon would provide you with a list of leads and that the customers would know you were coming. This sounded great and by this point I was hoping I would get the job. I was invited back for another 10 minute third interview and liked my chances of getting the job. The head guy I met with confirmed that the customers knew we'd be coming and that it wasn't cold calls. They said they'd give me a call that evening to let me know and sure enough I got a call saying I got the job and would start Monday.

I went in for training and what I read in the training book and the sales pitch they taught me sounded an awful lot like door to door sales which they told me the job was not. After a couple hours they said I could go home and we'd do feild work the next day. I went back to see what the field work was like and decided if it was door to door sales I would quit. The people in the company all seemed like immature frat boys that would rather party and go out for a few beers. Definitley didn't have a work vibe. After a few hours of dicking around I was sent out with the guy who I did my 2nd round interview with. We drove about 30 minutes to the town of Hopedale and he pulled out a sheet with the houses he was supposed to see on it. While driing that is, he also didn't wear his seatbelt and was doing stuff on his phone from time to time.

Once we got there we went to the houses on the list. Turns out while Verizon provides the houses to visit they don't know you're coming, the list is just people who don't have Verizon Fios, which means it's door to door sales bothering people at home. So I'm walking around with this guy who's way to into what he's doing. If people aren't home he said we'd come back later. It's probably below 20 degrees out,  and people are either not home or not interested. Eventually he's able to make two sales at the end of the day and is all full of himself. By this point it's nearly 9 PM and we head back to the office. When we got back he told me I should just head home since everyone was already gone by that point.

I knew this wasn't the job for me they lied to me about what the job was and how the pay structure worked. The next day I went in and told the head guy that I ddin't want the job and quit. The parent company of New Business Concepts, Cydcor, pulls this thing all the time all over the country. Be careful if you see a job with little infor on their website that sounds too good to be true, especially if they have a multiple interview system.
