My wife and I ordered two entrees at this small Indian restaurant. When the bill came, there was a charge we could not understand. It was not for food or tax. When we asked, they reluctantly told us that it was for a tip added on to the bill. Rarely do restaurants add a tip on to a bill for only 2 people. We were surprised that they did not indicate on the bill there was a tip charge. They charged a 15% tip on everything...even the sales tax! We never tip on taxes.

Everyone should examine their bills closely at restaurants. Many people might just pay an additional 15% or 20% tip when they received the bill not realizing that they could be paying a 30% to 45% tip on a meal. Of course, if someone wants to give a 45% tip, that is fine. But at least, you should be aware that a tip has been added on.

Our bill was relatively small...only $27.00. However, if this occurs every time someone eats at that restaurant, they are earning "tips" on taxes and additional tips for the unsuspected patrons. Watch your bill closely.
