Read a "news" article regarding Joanna Gaines leaving her show due to the fact that it conflicted with a skin care line that she helped design.
The news article stated facts that I knew of for Joanna Gaines, Magnolia Boutique, etc. It stated that Joanna had grown not quite bored with her show currentl;y of TLC, but that she had an old and yet unresolved passion for skin care and she wanted to persue that interest.
Upon launching the company she was offering a trial sample of the skin care product free, need only to pay the shipping and handling. I should have known that nothing comes free but Joanna is such a down to earth kind of girl and I could really see her doing this, Not!
I recieved the product and within the week my account was charged in one transaction $89.95 and another transaction $84.95. Now I"m not poor but I do live paycheck to paycheck and I could not take a hit like this without it causing a s****.>
I called the phone number associated with the charge, 888-419-8549, and spoke to an Alicia Thompson in Customer Service. Ms. Thompson sd that I had approved the transaction when I ordered the product. I explained to her that I had not ordered anything I was only replying to the give away that Ms. Gaines was offering. She informed me that I had authorized and automatic shipment each month and automatic withdrawal for each product that I received. Oh Hell No!
With a lot of demanding on my part and the threat of filing charges, Ms. Thompson went from offering me 30%, 50%, to 100% refund to my account. Now I have been given two authorization numbers not sure if they are valid or not because at the point of writting this complaint I have been refunded nothing.
I will suffer the effects of my stupidity and if I can offer any advice to someone responding to these stupid news stories about Joanna Gaines, dont do it. I'm not sure she is even aware of this scam, but I will call her office tomorrow, if I can find the number, and complain. I'm sure I'm one of thousands who have been taken in by this.
