News12/Optimum Cablevision News station is denying access to its own customers Woodbury NY
News 12 is denying access its news articles to Optimum subscribers unless we purchase more services from Optimum, such as phone or cablevision. There is a sign-on page for "Optimum Customers", but our Optimum IDs will not work unless we subscribe to other services, and the page itself does not specify that sign-in is for higher paying customers. The official FCC manual states that "a station's primary responsibility is to the community", not to line the pockets of its affiliated ISP. This just wreaks of extortion, and needs to be investigated. We should not be blocked from accessing our only local news station. A complaint to the FCC concerning this issue has fallen upon deaf ears, and the case was closed rather quickly before receiving any response from the company.
