In mid October, 2001 I forwarded a payment of $1500 to Nextcard. It was incorrectly read there as $15 although it was very clearly the larger amount. Nevertheless, I was charged a late fee of $29 and the interest rate on the account was raised from 9.9% to 23.9% and applied.

When I received my statement in early November I immediately called your 1-888 number and spoke with a staff member and supervisor. I was asked if I would like to make a phone payment, which I did for $1800 , and was then told the incorrect check reading problem would be corrected the check, front & back was forwarded to them (fax:602-322-0692).

I was told that fees, interest charges based on the higher rate would be credited and that the rate would be returned to 9.9%.
On December 12 when I open my new Nextcard statement I find that none of that was true. No fees or charges were adjusted and the rate was still 23.99%.

An immediate call to Frank's supervisor, "William to find out how this possibly could have happened was basically met with the response , you should have written no cents on the check take it up with accounting if you like. Unbelievable! Nothing, he said, would be adjusted except the interest rate beginning now. I declined this very unfair proposal.

I run a large business here and have had accounts with a half dozen credit card companies and never in all my years have I been treated in such a contemptible manner.
