I am yet another victim of Nextcard's unfair practices. After the purchase of Nextcard's credit accounts, my (as well as many others) interest rates increased dramatically. However, I was not given the courtesy of being notified prior to the interst change, it simply appeared on my next credit card statement...I have tried on numberous occasions contact a live person, but have yet to reach anyone by phone & no one is answering my letters.

Yet I continue to pay my credit card bill at an outragous 27.99% interest rate. From what I read Merrick Bank made a tremedous deal (purchasing these accounts from Nextcard at nearly $0.25 on the dollar!! Why is it so unprofitable to leave the interest rates at what they were?? Because they have us where they want us (those of us who cannot pay off our credit card in full must make the monthly payments no matter what the interest rate to save our credit...)

When I signed-up for NextCard at a fixed rate of 9.9% until the debt was paid off., it never occurred to me that this would ever change.

Now that another company took over, my finance rate has been changed to 18.99%, which is very high compared to 9/9%. I was never informed about the increase in rate, it just appeared on my statement.

I am extremely angry about this whole thing and wish there was some way to make them accountable for their actions.

Thank you for listening to me.
