My husband and I used Voicestream for years, but liked the feature of the two-way radio. In March of 2002 we decided to switch from Voicestream to Nextel, thinking that the unlimited two-way radio feature would save us money. Huge mistake!! We bought 2 Motorolla I85 phones at $150 each, and 10 months later, my phone stopped charging.

I was then removing my battery and placing it in my husbands phone to charge. 2 weeks later my husbands phone stopped charging. Hmmm....what a coincidence. This is when we called Nextel. We spoke to numerous people, and repeated our problem numerous times, and did not get anyhwere.

We were bounced around by Nextel (Las Vegas & Florida) and Motorolla who put the responsibility on eachother. We called every Nextel service center on the island to see if there were any I85's that we could swap with and learned that we were not the only ones having problems with our phones the I90 and I95's were also having the same problem.

This is why no authorized dealer on the island has any phones to swap out. This shows that this is a factory defect. After spending a total of 6 hours on the phone with them in a 7 day period, Motorolla finally suggest that we do the door to door repair service. We agreed.

However, our phones were returned to us with a letter stating that our phones were not repairable, and that they basically could not do anything for us. At this point we were outraged! Nextel's slogan is "Customers come first" so, I don't understand why 2 multi-million dollar companies cannot help their customers by simply taking responsibilty and replace the phones. Although we have had minor problems with Voicestream, it was nothing compared to this.
