I was lead into this as a work-from-home internet opportunity. Then found out I had to call people and get them to tell me personal info to get paid a measely $3.

Worst off they charge you $49 startup fee, supposedly for the phone code.

The lists of people they provided were bad at best, over half the people I contacted were angry and said they had been called many times before and asked to be removed from the calling list. This was impossible to make any money with. Don't do it!

They seem to be in good standing with the BBB, which completely disillusions me about the BBB. Their business may be legit, but their work-at-home opportunity is a scam.

NHCD RIPOFF DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE..

Wow! all of a sudden a SURGE of people defending this NASTY company..I am sure NHCD had you say these things! How else can they EXPLAIN ALL the reports from INNOCENT people saying your company IS A RIP OFF??

The only reason NHCD stays in business is because they do not refund any of your money. If it was a decent company, They would refund your money and NOT KEEP TAKING money out of peoples accounts!

Add up what this RIP OFF company makes just by ALL the NEGATIVE feedbacks from innocent people...HMMMM

Got my husband for 50+ dollars and HE TRIED HARD FOR HIS FAMILY! So don't tell me they are a great company... NO WAY NO HOW!! PEOPLE, please don't get involved in this SCAM!!!

UPSETTING

#34Consumer Comment

Sat, December 23, 2006

I am so upset about this company. I signed with them, paid for the access code, and everything. I was scheduled for orientation at 9am, and I dialed in for the conference call a couple of minutes early only to be diappointed. These people are not punctual AT ALL! They had me waiting listening to some instrumental holding music in the background. I waited for about a half hour and no one came to the line! So I called the number the recruiter gave me to re-schedule the conference call, and guess what? THEY'RE NOT AVAILABLE!!! This is so terrible.

Also, the recruiter told me I could use a cell phone for work and that a reservation telephone line was not necessary. What a rude awakeining it was to find out on their website that a reservation phone line is NECESSARY! So now I don't know what to do. I'm gonna try to get my money back for the access code deposit, but I doubt they'll give it back. So if you're called by one of these recruiters for NHCD-ASI PLEASE ask them for all the details and do research before you sign up with them. So far i've found nothing but bad reports on this company. Be careful; hopefully my report has saved many of you a lot of grief.

Happy Holidays

NHCD Is No Different Than Any Other Corporation

Sun, February 29, 2004

I've been reading all the other posts at this site and just had to put in my two cents.

I've been working with NHCD for about 6 months now. I had absolutely no problems getting my phone deposit credited back to my charge card. In fact, it was credited back to my card within 5 days of my requesting the refund.

I work in the Recruiting Dept. and I will be honest with you, dollar for hour spent, the pay is not that good with this company. It's true, you really do work for your money.

Plus, I live in Southern Cal. and my mortage payment alone is probably more than alot of these other people's entire monthly expenditures are.

So, to me NHCD is really just a part-time thing I do for diaper money and a nice dinner out for my family every week.

However, I think it's probably evident from all the very passionate posts on this site that NHCD does seem to really grab a hold of alot of these women's lives. (Solution--get a life besides your job and you won't be so miffed when your company pulls another usual corporate greed move)

My advice to anyone thinking of working with the company is this: Make sure your Recruiter is honest with you. Like in any other sales, there are good Recruiters and bad ones.

I personally don't have the time to p***y-foot around issues with people. Ask me a question and I'll tell you the answer--whether you like it or not. However, not all people recruit the way I do. There are some really rotten Recruiters out there, just like there are some really rotten salespeople out there.

Furthermore, I do not deal with company ad calls anymore. I hire only people who have applied through my website where everything is spelled out for them in black and white up front before they even apply.

I've found that hard-core honesty stills gets me 5-6 hires per week and that buys my kids diapers etc.

So, if you're not looking to get rich, and just want something for part-time work at home that will probably allow you to meet a whole bunch of women from around the country that you probably never would of in a million years met without NHCD...come aboad...I'd even give you my website to apply through, but it's not NHCD approved and I don't want to hear any flack from the mouths up top about it. :)

Want to Offer the Seniors Something

I am looking for people to offer the same prescription program for free..You will earn residual commission..You can choose your method of marketing; and you will never be fired. You earn as much as you can give away. Moreover, there is no fees. There are no fees to be hired, no fees to offer the program.

I am tired of all you bashers. The deposit was implemented because of people being hired on and weren't very serious about the work from home position and backed out. A lot of those used the access code for their personal long distance phone calls. This cost the company money. And have you ever heard of inflation. The cost of cable goes up all the time, but the deposit into the company is a one time thing and you get it back if you followed the guidelines. I have worked for several different work from home jobs, and this one is by far the best that I have come accross. Have you ever seen the girls in the supermarkets giving out free samples. I have done that as well (it's fun, but I still have to take my child to day care), and they are independent contractors. They do not get taxes taken out of their checks either and they get far less that we get paid with NHCD.

NHCD may not be taking out taxes, but that is ok, because if they did take out taxes, we would not be able to make the tax deductions that we do. Example of some tax deductions are if you own a home, you can count a room off as a home office, you can count off your regular phone bill, your internet access, you paper, you printer ink, and there are so many other things that you can count off. I have gotten my deposit back, and my bring more money every week.

I would rather stay at home with my daughter, than have to pack her up each morning and pay $200 to $400 per week for child care. I get to see her grow, and I can bring home money to help with the finances, all from the comfort of my own home. There were some things that were not explained to me, but I learned about them as time went on. The 5 weeks is a probationary period. There is no risk. I have paid more to get into Mary Kay, and I didn't make the money that I am making now. I love what I do. I moved up very quickly into Recruiting and will be moving into management in the next few weeks. In your interview, they stated that it is what you make of it. If you have a possitive attitude, you will get results. I am living proof of that. I do better and better every day. But I think the best benefit is staying home with my daughter. I only work for a few hours a day. I take my time. There are no quotas, if your mananger gives you 300 numbers to call, you don't have to call all of them that day. I can call 300 numbers in about 3 hours, so I don't have a problem with getting that many numbers. But, there are no quotas. My husband works in a call center, but I tell you, I would rather work from home than have to trudge back and forth to work, and go through what my husband goes through on a daily basis. He actually has to fight for his commission checks. They always underpay him and he has to go through and make sure that he gets paid for his work.

This takes about a days work to get it straightend out. And then we wait until it is put into his following check. I thought that I would never have the commitment that I have for this work at home opportunity. But, I have proved to myself that I can do anything. So think about what you think before you say it. You may just be upset because you had a bad day at work. I had a great today. And I know that my check is going to reflect that. If you feel like NHCD didn't live up to the contract, do something about it. It is a contract for God's sake, and it is legally binding.

Cofused about the phone fee

The $74.00 refundable fone connection fee doesn't make sense. Today I received an offer from SBC phone company. UNLIMITED (DAY OR NIGHT) fone for long distance and local 39.95 per month. AT&T offered me the SAME thing for 44.95 per month. If I have a Cable Modem I can get Vonage (sp?) for less. Why is the fee so high?

I refuse to make Seniors pay for something they can get free

#34UPDATE EX-employee responds

Thu, January 15, 2004

I worked for NHCD From January 02 to October.

Let me tell you I worked for NHCD..I believe in my heart the only ones really making money are the people on top.

I worked hours..climbed the ladder to management..I loved the idea of helping people..I made private vows in my church to live for this purpose of helping others..When I got inside info from the very Canadian Company that was being used ..The agreements regarding the discounts..I backed out!!

I refuse to make Seniors pay for something they can get free..If someone needs help getting rx through canada or a discount card..free of charge.. I willn post that info soon to this report below.

Anyone can get this help free..I will send any information..paperwork etc..to anyone wishing to go through canada for meds..NO CHARGe..If you want a card..for those not covered..I will help you obtain two or three..

This business of charging employees and seniors is only making the higher ups really wealthy..

think of it..How many hours so many work to get 3 or 12 dollars!!!!

I watched my people..when I was a manager drop out like flies..be disconnected..all because they couldnt meet the criteria of the company..

IF you are employees..you deserve hourly pay..
GO to a call center you are paid by the hour regardless of the outcome..

Have a great day..

My advice: stay away from NHCD

I'm not surprised that the deposit was raised AGAIN!! It has went from free to $29, to $39, to $49, to $59, to $69 and finally to $74, and this was over probably a 2-3 year period. Pretty funny that it keeps going up, yet the company can write the phone calls off on its taxes.

By the way, NHCD is under investigation by the IRS and a Class Action lawsuit has been filed. The reason being is they treat their independent contractors like employess, yet fail to pay them as employees.

I'd be really surprised to see NHCD last much longer.

Also, if your so proud of your company why not use your REAL name.

I just want all of you to know that I am a Recrutiing Manger as well and that I NEVER received and email stating that the cost of the "refundable phone deposit" was going up because of the "advertising".

The email stated the the phone depost was being raised to 74.00. Don't other companies raise the price of things? We are adjusting to what the company that we pay the access code needs.

Think about it, if we are only asking for half of what it costs us to hook someone up and then if price goes up..then we get the brunt of that as well. Nobody seems to be stating that you GET THE MONEY BACK. There is no investment we just want to make sure you are going to work..as stated here you MUST work.

This is nothing new in the world. It happens every year. For the person that is going to step down, why don't you move to another department we have several places you could go to and not have to get the refundable deposit. I have worked them all, I just love recruting the most. Of course sales is awesome, I never thought I could do that but being able to save people so much money is just great. And yes they do save the money. I have all the plans myself and use them. Remember these are discount programs-we are not insurance. So the savings do vary.

Anyway getting of the subject, if people have problems there is always the VP of the company, why wasn't he contacted before you start sending out these terrible "open ended" converstations on a site that is for companies that are REALLY RIPPING people off.

"NEW PAY PLAN & NEW DEPOSIT PRICE"

#34UPDATE Employee

Sat, November 01, 2003

I am currently a Recruiting Manager with NHCD. This afternoon it was "announced" that starting Monday November 1, 2003, that the "Refundable $69 deposit" for your access code is being RAISED! It will now be $74. Now to alot of people $5 isn't a lot of money when you think of the amount of money you would be spending on long distance charges. Here's the kick in the pants. A few hours after this announcement came out, another announcement was sent via email for the REASON the deposit is being raised. It SEEMS that NHCD is NOT getting enough people applying for their work from home positions, so this extra $5 is being put towards ADVERTISING!!!!!!!!!!

Now I have been with NHCD since April of 2003, and I have received my deposit back. I promoted very quickly in the company and I am making pretty good money considering I am saving almost $400 a WEEK in daycare for my child. NHCD has helped with the household income, but this new announcement has just given me a really sour taste in my mouth. As soon as i can find another work at home position that will enable me to make as much or more income that I am making now, I WILL be leaving the company. I am also steping down from management as I just cant lie to the people saying that the $74 is ALL for their phone deposit.

As for those that did not receive their deposit back? All I can suggest is finding a "watch dog group" that works with mass media (such as TV, radio or print) and have them investigate.

NHCD IS A REAL WORK FROM HOME COMPANY

#34UPDATE Employee

Fri, October 31, 2003

I have worked for the company for 2 years now and have not had a problem. I receive my paycheck weekly every Monday. At first there was a little problem getting my deposit back. After the first 5 weeks. I applied on the website and there was a glich in the system and I called my manager and she contacted her manager and they contacted that department. I reapplied and received my refund after 1 week. I think a lot of this miscommunication.People are to quick to make negative comments and go to higher up if they had a problem. Just post her and say we are not a good company.

I think every company has a some unhappy employees and there are 2 sides to every story. If you don't put in the time to do the job the money is not going to fall from the sky. I have been promoted into management and love working with my team and other managers.

If you want to bash us then do it on your own dime don't lead people to believe that the rep with the BBB is false. We don't scam the Elderly either. If you had a problem with the Rx program there is customer service to call and speak with.

As far as the money that you are making, the pay plan has changed as well so you are paid for the calls you are making. You need to meet the standard of the BBB before they even let you pay for the "membership" It does not matter if you pay them or not if you are found to be unsatifactory then they list you as such. You can file and get the "reports" submitted by consumers. Actually if you looked at a company that has an unsatisfactory rating they are listed right on the BBB's site. It tells you what complaints were filed and so on.

Just make sure you have ALL the facts and information about a company before you have others believe that they can't work from home. I can't wait to be in the next step of management!!!!
THANKS NHCD!!!!

NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT NHCD NOT TRUE

I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A SHOUT OUT TO ALL THOSE NEGATIVE BASHERS OUT THERE. I HAVE BEEN WITH NHCD FOR 3 YEARS NOW AND I WOULD NOT TRADE IT FOR THE WORLD. EVERYONE THAT I HAVE COME IN CONTACT WITH ARE WONDERFUL. YES, I HAD TO START FROM THE GROUND AND WORK MY WAY UP TO SALES WHICH I AM NOW EARNING $300-400 PER WEEK. THE MONEY IS DELICIOUS AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO SPEAK SUCH HARSH NEGATIVE GARBAGE, IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU WERE TOO LAZY TO GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND WORK.

THIS IS A JOB, NOT A GAME WHERE YOU JUST PLAY ALL DAY. IT'S YOUR OWN BUSINESS AND YOUR SHOULD TREAT IT AS SUCH. I STARTED AS A LEAD GENERATOR MAKING $40-80 PER WEEK, AND I ONLY STAYED THERE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, THEN I WENT INTO RECRUITING WHICH ALLOWED ME TO MAKE MORE MONEY AND NOW THAT I AM IN SALES, IT IS WONDERFUL. I AM MAKING MORE MONEY NOW THAN I DID WHEN I WAS OUT THERE IN THE SECULAR WORLD.

NHCD IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR MOTHERS WITH CHILDREN AS WELL AS ANYONE THAT IS DISCIPLINED ENOUGH TO SPEND A SMALL AMOUNT OF TIME EACH DAY TO WORK. THE PRESCRIPTION AND DENTAL PLANS ARE WONDERFUL FOR ALL OUR SENIORS AS WELL AS THOSE THAT ARE SPENDING ALL THEIR MONEY EACH MONTH. NOT ONLY DOES IT ALLOW THEM TO SHOP LOCALLY BUT THRU THE WALLMART MAIL ORDER SERVICE AS WELL AS CANADA. THE SAVINGS ARE PHENOMENAL. THERE IS NOT ONE THING ILLEGAL OR BAD ABOUT NHCD. ALL YOU HAVE IS A GROUP OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE A DESIRE TO SUCCEED AND DOING IT FROM THE COMFORT OF THEIR OWN HOME.

SO TO ALL YOU HATERS OUT THERE!!! IT IS TOO BAD THAT YOU HAVE TO GET UP EVERY MORNING AND GO OUTSIDE OF YOUR HOME TO ANSWER TO A BOSS THAT YOU PROBOBLY DON'T LIKE, WHEN YOU COULD HAVE HAD A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE YOUR OWN BUSINESS. EACH YEAR I HAVE USED THIS AS A TAX WRITE OFF AND I HAVE GOTTEN A WONDERFUL TAX RETURN.

I AM GLAD THAT THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE DISGRUNTLED ARE NO LONGER WITH THE COMPANY BECAUSE YOUR VERY PRESENCE WOULD PROBOBLY LEAVE A BAD SMELL.

GET A LIFE!!!
PEACE AND LOVE

First of all, what do you think of the access code being free, then 29.00, then 49.00, then 59.00, and now it is at 69.00?? The calls are a TAX WRITE OFF FOR THE COMPANY!!

Please read my comments on another rip off report claim at http://www.ripoffreport.com/view.asp?id=52055

I was a manager with the company, and I know all about the ways NHCD scams people to make money. Not only are they scamming their employees, they are charging people a fee for cards you can get for FREE and I have PROOF of that!!

Anyhow, please read that report, I believe I commented about 4 times on different question by another brainwashed employee. Wait until your with NHCD for nearly a year like I was and then come post your comments. There is a 95% chance you'll have a change of tune.

First of all $49 is better then spending money on long distance phone calls from home. DO the math. Lets say you called 500 and you only paid $49 and then you receive the deposit in the mail in 5 weeks thats a one time refundable fee of $49!! Lets say you called 500 and it was a 2 minute phone call and long distance was $.10. Whats 500x.20=$100!! SO in the long run your deposit is worth the investment plus you aren't paying for phone charges after that. So complaints aren't necessary!!

Managers make mistakes also. Maybe the manager made a mistake and gave out the same numbers, but I highly doubt that the manager gave you the same numbers on purpose. SO the solution would have been to contact your manager and have them give you fresh numbers!!

I just want to say is that I am planning on working with NHCD and my goal is to get into management. I know I am making the right decision.

What next?
I am currently an employee of NHCD. My husband is active duty in the USMC, and it is widely known that we spouses have background checks done on ourselves and the companies we work for. (due to security clearance)

The federal goverment is most definitely NOT going to let me work for anyone that could have even the remote probability of jeoparizing their Marine! (that includes MLMs and pyramids)

I have never had any problems, and I did receive my refund back yesterday for my phone deposit.
Please think of the deposit in this manner: If one was to be employed in outside sales, they would more than likely have to put a security deposit down on their samples; If one were to be employed by any form of uniformed governmental agency, they would have to tow the costs of uniforms and supplies. I do not see what the difference is. It is completely stated in the contract that you sign before you begin work, that the deposit will be refunded as long as you follow the guidelines. HELLO! It's a contract!

And where, anywhere, with all of these filings are the class action law suits against NHCD or the negative filings with the BBB?

Seems like these persons are so ready to talk, but procede with no "real" action if they are so upset with the company and what it stands for.
Really, other than bad PR that this company, including I, is more than willing to prove ourselves against, what's next?

Sincerely,

The advanced pcs card that is offered is only part of the program. You should really have all the information about this company before you go trashing them! What we sell for $94 a year is a program that has several different options that go along with the card. There is 2 different mail order programs and the customer service and support that are included in this program. That is what you pay for. Not a card you can get for free! The reason that card is in there is for when you fill a new prescription you can get some sort of discount while waiting to get the rest in the mail! Some people just like to let others who don't do so well pull the wool over thier eyes. T his company could not sell something that is free and be registered with the BBB! So next time check your facts before you go and trash a good companies name!

In August 2002, I had just left military service after 4 years and wanted to find a job that I could stay home with for awhile, and one that would move with me (My husband has orders to FL, we move April 03) I signed up with a website for multiple work at home opportunities and one company that called me was NHCD.

My "manager" was very friendly and she was aalso the one that recruited me. She told me that I wouldn't make a lot of money at first, but it would be very easy to move out of the leads position within a few weeks. She explained that what the company does is give a medical discount to people, mainly senior citizens and that the plan is only $8 a month. She told me that I would need to pay a one time refundable deposit of $49 to put free long distance on my phone and after I had made 300 prenstations that lasted at least 15 seconds then I could go online to themedicinecounter.com and get my deposit back. It sounded like a good deal.

They want you to call 150 numbers every day and they give you a list of numbers to call, all over the country so you can work at your own time, night or day as long as it is not before 8AM or after 9PM in the time zone that you are calling.

They offered contests and training calls every day, you just dialed a number and you were in a joint session with other people to learn how to succeed. All of this was very professional. She said that I would be paid $3 per lead....a lead is a person who is simply interested in more information, they do not have to buy anything, you are not selling anything, you are just calling and asking people if they are interested. She told me that the list of numbers that I had were from people who were interested in saving money on their prescription costs.

I was very excited about the opportunity, and decided that even if I could get 30 leads a week, which seemed very easy, I could get an extra $90 a week and still stay home. HA!

I called people every day all day long for two weeks. I got a total of 16 lead from all of that! All of those hours of work got me yep....$48!
The lists were terrible, I had peoplpe curse at me, hang up on me, you name it.
But here's the kicker....she told me that one of the main cards they issued is called Advanced PCS. A lot of the reason I was doing this is because I thought I was helping people save me, and I love to save money....I know that a lot of seniors really need the extra money. WEll get this.....Advanced PCS cards are free to anyone on the internet! You can go to www.advancedPCS.com and get one for yourself.

Oh and they $8 a month....I soon deiscovered that it was actually $96 a year, which yes, is $8 a month, but it is billed all at once, which I was never told.

I decided that I would make my 300 calls and call it quits. I made a little more than 300 then applied for my deposit back. I was told that I had to wait, because I had to be working with them for 4 weeks before I could apply so they could verify it with my phone bill. So I did. I never saw the $49. I tried several times to get it back, all unsuccessful attemtps.

Listen, take it from me, please please, don't every work for this company, and don't ever buy anything from them, you can get it for free just by filling out a form!!!!!!!

I have been working for NHCD for almost a year now and I got my deposit back and am getting pay checks. I was told that it was not a get rich overnight job and that you needed to work to get a paycheck just like anyother job out there. I love working for NHCD and it has allows me to be home with my daughter and make an additional income as well.

People need to stop expecting others to do their work for them to get paid. And need to stop putting the reputation of a phenominal company that helps millions of people be able to afford their medications at stake just because of a little temper tantrum.

here are certain requirments you need to reach but only because they are trusting you to do your job and your not in an office with a supervisor. I think its a small price to pay to be able to work from your home with the flexibility to be with your children!

NHCD IS BAD NEWS

#34UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tue, July 09, 2002

NHCD uses misleading statements to get you to join. I was lead to believe that all you had to do was call there numbers and for every person that you qualified you would be paid $3.00. Then I find out that if the sales person who calls your lead does not get to make the presentation (lead changes mind or not interested in middle of pitch) that you do not get your $3.00 even though followed their procedures.

You have to put a deposit on their access code which is a 1010 number. So the best part is that your home number comes up on the caller ID and people could dial you back. I sent an email to my manager advising I wanted out and that even though I thought I had made enough calls to get my deposit back, that I do not expect it and asked for my acess number to be disconnected.

I had to email the next day, as I heard nothing (while your willing to work for them they are all ready to respond to you)and received a snotty email saying yes it was being disconnected. So unless you are one of those shady telemarketers that have no morals, DO NOT SIGN UP AS AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR FOR NHCD.THEY ARE A BIG RIPOFF!

I was about to sign up with NHCD but while the LONG sale pitch was going, I came to the rip-off report and did a quick search. There I found your post and probably saved myself alot of grief.

Needless to say, after the recruter spent almost an hour with what she thought was a potential victim, I told her I was not interested.

Thanks again.
