Friday September 30th, 2011 I came home to disconnected gas service.  The bill was paid Saturday October 1, 2011 with payment arrangements.  The representative told me that the earliest date available for reconnection was  Friday October  7th, 2011.  The hours given were between 1-7pm meaning that I would had to take a day off work to make sure that the services were restored. I called the morning of October 7th to make sure the technician would be out at the time given but the representative told me that the hours would be 8am-5pm.  I waited all day and even ordered in food, not to miss the technician, I called the office at 4:45 pm and asked why hadn't anyone shown up yet.  The response was that the technician called at 10am and there was no response. There was no door tag left by the technician proving that he/she came out to restore the service.  First of all I have been waiting all day for some one to show up the phone did not ring or have any voice messages from Nicor Gas.  I asked for a Supervisor and the response was for me to allow someone to come out on Saturday October 8th between the hours of 8-5pm and if these hours were not good enough I could decline the service and call back at another time.  The only resolution to restore service was to come out Monday October 14th between 8-12pm to give a shorter window.  If this company can not handle restoring service for the general public and makes the excuse that we are backed up because of  re-connections then may be that should stop hiring lying technicians that get paid $15-$30 an hour for doing nothing.  Because of this technician I lost a days pay and my family has to continue to suffer using the money we had for bills to now buy fast food just to eat.  Nicor Operation Supervisor has not called to explain the precautions the technician will face.

Pay your bills on time, without resorting to "payment arrangements"

Looks like it's cold showers for awhile.

"...makes the excuse that we are backed up because of re-connections..."
Hey, maybe it's get even time at Nicor Gas, or maybe they really are extra busy re-connecting deadbeats.  :)

"Nicor Operation Supervisor has not called to explain the precautions the technician will face."

Why would the Nicor Operation Supervisor call you with any "precautions" whatever they may be will face?  If it's a problem at all with them, it's a personell issue and MUST by law remain private.

Not sure what word you were looking for, but "precautions" would not appear to be it.

Maybe you meant "sanctions" and are hoping the tech gets fired?

"...my family has to continue to suffer using the money we had for bills to now buy fast food just to eat."
More B.S., you had NOTHING in the house to eat, so NICOR caused you to order fast food?  Your story just keeps getting better as you go.  :)

"...should stop hiring lying technicians that get paid $15-$30 an hour for doing nothing."
1. How do you know they hire "lying technicians?
2. What's your source for their pay scale?
3. Did you follow some of them around to determine they were "doing nothing?"
4. Are you prone to hyperbole and wild exaggeration?
