Nolo is a long established company. Originally they were Nolo Self-Help Counsel Press, publishers of guides for do-it-yourself legal situations like wills, divorce, real-estate, etc. Years back I purchased some of their guides for an overview of what I'd be getting into. However, I believe that involving ones-self in a legal situation without competent advice is sheer idiocy. Nolo has shortened its name and broadened its scope to include legal referrals. This section of their site offers a free consultation from one of their members. Needing some advice about how to do a real-estate transfer, I sent them an outline of the situation. I received a prompt phone reply from one of their registrees. His entire free advice was "Send us a $300 retainer." When I emailed Nolo with a complaint, their response was: Thank you for contacting us. We actually don't deal with the lawyer directory, we can give you a number to call if you would like to speak with someone directly. Sounds like they don't care what what their suppliers do.
