When we first moved into this luxurious place called, Washington On The Square, we thought we had it made. Little did we know the management company of the building will turn out to be really bad. We moved into to this beautiful rental place 2.5 years and while there was still a lot of construction going on. We were told that the construction will be done no longer than 8 months. Here we are 2.5 years later and they are still doing construction.

This building was taken over by some company which renovated every single apartment and common areas and sold them for an arm and a leg. I say that because 450K for a 950sqft, 2 bed, 2 bath apartment is a lot of money, especially with the really bad worksmanship performed. In addition the city of Brookline does not allow over night street parking so this place charges an additional 40K per underground parking spot if anyone is interested.

I personally rent there. The quality of the apartments, garage, management company etc are just not good enough for amount of money they are asking for purchasing one apartment. From the first day we moved in the noise level was to much as there was a lot of stuff going on (apartment renovations above us, next to us and across from us). Keep in mind I am not the only one renting in that building and these apartments go for minimum $2500 per month. To our bad luck our first summer there was horrible. It got really hot early in May and our apartment was soring @ 85F (we have a baby too).

This is a 30 year old red brick building which retains heat like there is no tomorrow. The management company's excuse was there is some kind of law that prevents them from turning on the AC until June 15 of every year, which is a total fake, and that they were missing a part and the AC system for the building was broken. We were living and sleeping in a 85F apartment for two weeks until I had enough and rented window units for ourapartment. Conveniently enough the building AC was turned on, on June 15. Every time I called the management company to complain and ask when the AC will be on, I was ignored and treated rudely. Then they started the so called "upper level garage project" renovation.

What a nightmare this has been. EVERY morning before 7am I had to get up and move my car outside the lower level garage because parking was not allowed during the upper level garage construction and you would get towed otherwise. Meanwhile my car windows and paint is FULL of Calcium LIME deposits. The management company doesn't want anything to do with that and they also managed to send all of us a strict MEMO that we park in the garage on our discretion and anything that happen to our cars is our problem and not theirs. This is still going on and it has been for almost a year now.

Finally this year they had enough owners to form their own building association and call all the shots. The management company along with the project engineers decided to replace the old AC system with a new one. Of course they decided to do this really close to May and when it got hot again and people started to complain about the AC, the system was not ready yet. They set a date of turning the new AC system on May 23 and of course they were no where near that date. Thank god this year the weather was nicer and cooler in the month of May.

Then finally they started the AC system and we were well into June. It was very hot and of course the NEW AC system kept crapping out very often. Because I am very hot blooded and was always one of the very first to call the management company to complain about it they always ignored me mainly because I am not an owner and of course no one else called from your building to complain so I guess that makes me a liar and an a*s!!!

Eventually more people called and complained and then they finally decided to call the EMCOR HVAC specialists (which was considered over time therefore very expensive). By that time they had already wasted 3 hours and by the time the HVAC guys came it was already 9pm and this started 1pm in the aftrenoon.

Many more problems have have happened but I would be typing all day if I went through them all. However what did it for me and I decided to put this report was yesterday. The AC broke again. The problem is not with our apartment but the whole so called NEW building AC system. At this point I am at work and my wife is home with the baby. I call the management company and they decided to send a maintenance guy over to our apartment. Keep in mind we are in the process of moving out of this place, therefore there is packing going on and packed boxes. The apartment is tiny and not much room to put finished boxes. They send over this moron to check our apartment AC system. He walked in was totally rude to my wife. He treated her like crap simply because we had some boxes in the way of the unit "what is this??" he said with an attitude. "are you moving in or out? How am I supposed to get to the AC unit with all these boxes on the way?".

After he made my wife put the baby down and move the boxes, he spent 5 minutes and says "I don't know what is wrong with it. We have to call the HVAC specialists and I don't see it happening today as it's 4pm already and they charge over time". My wife said this apartment get really hot even though it's 70F outside, we can't cook or watch TV cause that stuff makes it even hotter. All this while I am paying $2500 a month rent!!!

Some of these people are such sexists and recists. They see or hear a womans voice with an accent (cause my wife is from Venezuela) and they think they can treat them like garbage and intimidate them. HELL NO. I will stand for this from anyone. No one talks to my wife that way and gets away with it. He was lucky I did not see him in the property, cause I have no idea what I would have to him. Bastards like him and management companies like Nordblom should not be in this business unless they develop some people skils.

Building AC system is down again...

Once again today Saturday August 23, 2008 I noticed our $2500 a month rental apartment was unusually warm. Went to the mail room and noticed the AC unit in the mail room was blowing warm air same as our apartment. I then went outside where the new industrial condenser fan is located and it hasn't worked or turned all morning. I called twice once at 10am and then 11am. Once again I was ignored by the management company and their answering service. I called a third time at 12pm and then they said they are sending someone. That someone knows nothing about AC systems and yet they send him to asses the situation and of course I called him and he said that the system is working fine, which is the answer you get from someone that is clueless on AC Systems. Once again my word and phone calls were not good enough. It is now 2:30pm and our apartment temp is reading 78F.

This management company very bad. BE AWARE OF NORDBLOM COMPANY. You do not want to have them managing your building like this.
