At North Arundel Hospital [ my husband] was scheduled for surgery on Jan 27th and had all tests, gave blood and his pre-op visit done, we then recieved several calls from the pre-op asking him to come in and have this done again,,, 4 calls .... On Jan 27th he had the flu and his surgery was cancelled and rescheduled for Feb 10th, AGAIN he was contacted 6 times from pre-op to come in and have pre-op work up which he had already done.

I then contacted the head nurse in pre-op and she said she would post a sign tellin them not to call us again.

After surgery he was released from the hospital on Friday and had to return on Sat to the ER because of blockage to a hose, after trying to unclog the hose his doctor had to be called and he was taken to OR and thats where the fun began again.

First I was told he was going to be out in a short while, NOT, we went in the hospital at around 1:30 PM and he was not out of there until after 9 PM and one nurse said he was being admitted and even gave me his room number, the next nurse I asked when he was coming to his room said he was being discharged. This went on for over 3 hours not knowing what I was doing and each nurse had a different story.

Next the Home Nurse was to contact us on Sat and when I called them they knew nothing about the doctors orders to have a home visit for my husband, after several phone calls and several contacts from the hospital they finally got the order from the doctor and scheduled the visit.
What are these people so confused about and to think they are dealing with peoples lives. UNREAL

The hospital sure needs to have someone oversee these idiots who knows nothing and can't seem to get their orders streight.even when its in writting. How many times do you have to tell someone that you have already been there for pre-op and when a person is in the ER can't someone ask the doctor if the patient is being admitted or do they just guess what the heck is going on.
We have made our last visit to North Arundel Hospital as we're not sure what they will guess at next.
Thank God for a good doctor and thankful he is not on their staff.

Gail,

After living in Maryland all my life I recently relocated to Arkansas. I spent most of my time in Anne Arundle County, Mountain Road, Pasadena area.

I am so sorry to hear of your "ordeal" at NAH. I too have had bad experiences there. Every member of my family that was ever admitted to that particular hospital died there.

The last person to be lost to their inability to get anything right was my Grandmother. She went in the hospital for what they diagnosed was the flu, nagging cough, difficulty in breathing.

She died a day later from congestive heart failure. A condition that was clearly in her medical charts, but was never diagnosed as the problem behind her difficulties. In their opinion she had the flu.

This was a vibrant, healthy 74-year-old self-sufficient woman who walked every day at one of the local malls as a participant of the senior health program there. She ate healthily; she did not drink, smoke or do anything that would compromise her health. She volunteered at several organizations including NAH and was loved by all who knew her.

My family was instructed that if I wasn't bleeding to death, that I was NEVER to be taken to NAH for any reason. I'd rather suffer in horrible pain for the duration of the trip to Annapolis or Baltimore before being admitted to that death trap.

I am thankful that at least your husband made it out alive, several of my family members weren't so fortunate.

Be well and I wish you and your family continued good health.
