While I was reading some of the complaints here, it struck me that there must be a bigger scam going on there than we know. I recieved a collection notice from North Shore Agency Inc. It made referance to a magazine I had never recieved nor even heard of.

I went to the magazine's site and put my information in the form to see if I was in their system. Sure enough they had all my info including my address and how many magazines I had Received and a statement that the bill was overdue! Then I saw something that blew me off my chair, in the spot for my email, it wasn't mine but the email of someone I had bought an internet service from 3 years ago!

Now it's clear. Since they had my correct address, how could they NOT send it to me? Only one clear conclusion. In order for this to all happen men's health magazine, Rodale, and North Shore had to be working together on this scam to work. What are the odds that all my information is correct except my email, and further, it's the email of some one who had this information from 3 years ago!

I have tried to notify the FTC but their identity theft reporting page is messed up and won't take the info. Instead I used their email to give them all the information. This is so clear that all these companies HAVE to be in on it.

Just an update.

I filed an identity theft to Experian. They were very nice and told me what steps to take next (I already knew the next steps but let them talk just the same).

I filed a written report to the FTC as well as calling them. The FTC employee I got refused to listen and sounded like they were having a bad day. I asked for the supervisor and he was put on the phone. The first thing he said after I told him I could document the whole scam, actually started to DEFEND them and would not accept the documentation from the very companies that are pulling off this fraud! I said "I guess doing your job for so many years has made you pretty jaded". He just said call the AG office (I had already planned that but I was just trying to do the steps in order). He just said "I can't help you, call law enforcement". I was just getting ready to ask him a question, but before I could say anything, he hung up.

So I guess the FTC really dosen't care if people are being ripped off, and reject any real evidence as if it were to bothersome for them. Their own website says they work with law enforcement? Why would they not want evidence? Just in case someone is thinking I was acting adversarily, that's just not my thing. I care about all the others that are being taken by these companies and not just me.
