I purchased an extended warranty for my, at the time, brand new 99 Pontiac Bonneville to protect myself till the car was paid off. The car is just about to be paid off (April 2004) and it started to make a little whinning noise.

I brought it in to the dealers only to find out they are not honoring the extended warranty because they don't want to wait for their payment. NOrw they are telling me I need to pay $800.00 dollars up front before they will even look at my car.

They informed me it was the transmission and I had to pay first. I did have other work done to the car, oil change, filters changed, belts checked and so forth to a tune of $375.00. I have no problem with that, but to tell me I had to pay an additional $800.00 before they would even look at my tansmission sickens me.

The owner Stan Ferraez tried to explain why they were not honoring the warranty. None of them were acceptable. I can not believe a company as large as General Motors would allow a company to sell something they would not stand behind. I was not informed at the time of my purchase that something like this could happen. I purchased 2 Pontiacs because I liked them so much both with an extended warranty and NEVER ran into a sitaition like this.

My first car was a used FORD, I purchased the extended warranty and never did FORD recind on the warranty. I am very upset by this. The car is not even 5 years old with only 39,000 miles and is in excellent condition and the transmission goes. What kind of product does GENERAL MOTORS manufacturer? My quest is not ending here I am going to go further and report this incident to the attorneys generals office as well as "Help Me Hank" Thank You

Indeed there seems to be injustice from Franks comments. At the time of purchase this dealership was under differnt ownership. The dealership today is owned by North Bay LLC. With David Ferraez the president. This transfer came two years after the consumer had bought their vehicle.
The Warranty Company was and is not one we sell or act as agent for. The fact is the Warranty Company that covered thier policy is insolvent and to the best of our knowledge is in a federal bankruptcy. WE HAVE WORKED WITH SEVERAL PREVIOUS CUSTOMERS TRYING TO PROVIDE ACCURATE INFORMATION AS THEIR POSITION WITH THIER WARRANTIES. We have done much work at reduced amounts and have spent
monies that was never received by this company trying to build future goodwill. Just as if one business goes out and a new business establishes in the same venue the new business can not be held libel for the old business practices. This current dealership has a very solid Warranty Company and has insurance protection with one of the largest insuance companies in the world to maintain as much protection for our customeres as possible. We have and will continue to try to do as much as possible to alleviate this consumers concern. Once again we are trying to repair damages done by others and have taken the brunt of the consumers anger because we were the bearers of the information on his previous purchase. We have thousands of satisfied customeres since the new ownership took over the dealership.
