This company, North Star Mechanical, is supposedly a licensed HVAC company.  However, it is nothing but an answering service,  which contracts its services, by using contract "HVAC Mechanics"  to Home Warranty Insurance Companies, in this case, Old Republic Home Warranty.  I am a real estate agent and have used Old Republic Home Warranty for over 10 years and have never had a complaint, until this one.

My client purchased a home warranty from Old Republic, had HVAC problems, Heating, and after the SIXTH visit, with different mechanics coming out each time, and leaving without fixing the problem, and giving the excuse, "We need to go get another part", I called Old Republic and told them to discontinue the service calls.  Today, with temps dropping into the high 30's or low 40's, and my client has no heat, I had to take action. I am paying my own personal HVAC mechanic, I've used for 10+ years, to fix the problem.

Last week, at the fourth visit, I even asked one of the HVAC mechanics if I could see his license, and he stuttered and stumbled, finally giving me the excuse that his license was in his "Other Truck".  The truck he was driving was about 12 years old and looked liked something out of junk yard and certainly did not look like a company truck.  It had not decals advertising a company.

If you have a home warranty from a home warranty company like Old Republic, American Home Shield, Fidelity, etc., and you have an HVAC problem, make sure the company does not send out an "HVAC Mechanic" from North Star Mechanical.  They are not worth the time, nor the expense, nor the problems that will be incurred by using this company.
