North Texas Truck Stop Tim Sanders Dishonest & Rude Mansfield, Texas

WORST truck buying experience ever! I live in CA and wanted to buy one of their trucks listed on Ebay. They had a very high customer rating which made me think they were a pretty legit place.  I spoke with Tim Sanders, one of their sales reps, several times over the course of a week asking questions about the condition of the truck and whether it had any mechanical problems I should know about.  He assured me there were no problems, just a few small scratches here and there (typical for a black truck). I noticed the exhaust pipe had been modified and asked whether it had a muffler on it, he said it did.  The carfax report also showed no problems and the 20+ pictures made the truck appear in pretty decent condition.

So I signed all their paperwork, put $500 down as a deposit, and spent another $600 on airline tix & a hotel for my dad & brother to go pick it up (I wasn't able to go).  Upon inspection of the truck, it was obviously in much worse condition than what was represented to me.  There were major scratches all over and areas that looked as though they had been painted over to hide major imperfections. The paint didn't match the rest of the truck and had that bubbling look from a bad paint job. There was NO muffler on the exhaust and the truck looked as though it was used mainly as an off road vehicle.  The tires were trashed and worst of all, there was a major oil leak somewhere in the engine that must have been dripping onto one of the belts because there was oil splattered all over the engine and inside of the hood. If that doesn't count as a mechanical problem, I don't know what does. They had other trucks with 120,000+ miles on them that looked better than this one. When my dad called Tim out on his lies to me, he responded with "maybe you guys should have called to ask about the truck instead of your daughter." Apparently they feel that a woman doesn't know anything about trucks and therefore doesn't deserve truthful answers! What a jerk!!

To top it all off, while my dad was waiting to get my deposit back, he overheard Tim and his buddy talking trash in the other room calling us "nit picky Californians". HA!! I'm sorry, but if I'm going to pay almost $20,000 for a vehicle and travel 1,800 miles to pick it up, I don't expect to be blatantly lied to!  And I sure as hell expect the vehicle to be in better condition than that!

These guys are the reason car salesmen have such a bad rap. Theyre dishonest, rude, and very unprofessional.  I would NOT recommend buying a vehicle from them unless you have a chance to thoroughly inspect it first. Needless to say, this was an expensive lesson.

Great Experience

I have to say i am shocked to read negative comments about NTTS and Tim Sanders. I am from New Jersey and purchased a truck from Tim 2 years ago. I flew in from Jersey and was promptly picked up by their driver at the airport and was greeted by Tim on my arrival like family.I had one small dent in the bumper of the truck i was purchasing and they immediately adjusted the price to compensate for it. After returning home and having the usual New Jersey run around at Motor Vehicle about tranferring an out of state title my temporary registration was running out. I placed a call to Mr Sanders who overnighted me a 60 day registration at no cost to me. I have to say my experience with them was nothing but excellant and would absolutely go back for my next truck!

I think it's unfortunate that someone would make a blanket decision based on this report. I also found a truck on EBay being sold by North Texas Truck Stop..to give everyone background,I had done my homework, researched issues with the truck type I was interested in, found prices, and knew that there was a chance I would leave TX with out the truck (AND tHE DEPOSIT) I selected if I didn't like it!

Nathan was the salesmen I dealt with and he answered each and every question I had. He also picked me up and drove me to the dealership. He was pleasant and informative about the truck. I asked questions, drove the truck, at one point he crawled underneath the truck to check something I asked about.. I had all the time I wanted to inspect the truck, I called a dealership to check/verify warranty info and received an unsolicited compliment about NTTS from the person I was talking to in the dealership service department!

I'm female, I don't expect anything but fair service but its also my job to be educated about the vehicle I'm buying. I drove my truck 12 hours back to Missouri and LOVED it. I also put over 50k miles in one year so it had plenty of time to have problems! I got a fair price, good service, and drove the heck out of this truck WITH NO PROBLEMS!! When I get ready to buy a truck, they will get a shot at my business again! I also recommended them to several people from my area. My husband and father were in the background reminding me of those technical questions but this was my deal and I felt in no way intimidated or slighted bc I was a woman during my experience!! Thank you NTTS!

So, you have never done business with North Texas Truck Stop nor have you ever visited our dealership? Yet, you think it is appropriate to slander our name based on a report from 2009 recounting events that you were not witness to? Furthermore, you thnk it is fair to make a generalization about our company in respect to how we treat women based on the fact that you, as a woman, have been treated badly by another dealership in the past? How is that fair to NTTS, our employees and the families that they support? Answer: it is not fair and completely baseless. We have produced over 6,000 satisfied customers since 2008, many of whom were women.

Internet sales is our business. We fully understand the importance of our customers and the online reputation they build for us. Perhaps Rip-Off Report should not allow people to flagrantly slander honest businesses without regard to fact or business history with the complainant.

If you have an issue with another dealership that you have in fact done business with, North Texas Truck Stop would appreciate it if you would complain to them through Rip-Off Report instead of needlessly slandering our name out of your spite for used car dealerships in general.

A BIG THANK YOU! To not only this post but to every post (even they are true) Yes there are always to sides to a story but normally when someone is done wrong the facts alone is all they need to prove there point no reason to lie or make it up. I have had a bad experience from a dealership and this and the other reports filed against North Texas Truck Stop just saved me from another expensive choice! I was going to drive 700 plus miles ONE WAY but I will make another choice now. I am the female on the other end of the line not on this phone call but on others that which dealerships think they don't have to be honest with.

This isn't just a "nice Report" I hope. I say it to let the dealers and dealerships know THESE REPORTS FROM YOUR CUSTOMERS MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR SALES AND THEY SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY OR SHRUGGED OFF CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HONESTY DOES MATER!

AND TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT THOUGHT THEY COULD LAUGH AS MY HANDS ARE TIED TO GO AGIENST A BIG DEALERSHIP TO MAKE YOU DO THE RIGHT THING. NO I CAN'T GO AFTER YOU IN COURT TO FIX YOUR BAD MANORS AND LIES AMOUNG OTHER THINGINGS BUT WORD OF MOUTH TRAVELS FAST AND I HOPE MY POST HURTS YOUR BOTTOM LINE!

Complaintant never saw the truck. An accurate description of the condition/events is questionable.

The author of the above report was not present at the dealership at the time of dispute nor did she ever lay her own eyes on the vehicle. I would question her ability to give a detailed description of the truck and the accuracy of quoting our salesman word-for-word is she did not herself hear the conversation. This story lends itself to a bit of exaggeration and any description of the events that occurred at our dealership by anyone who was not present should be taken with a grain of salt.

If our salesman was rude, I will not dispute that. If he was mistaken about the truck having an oil leak, I will accept that. He is human and therefore can make mistakes.

The removal of mufflers is a common modification done to diesel trucks to lower exhaust gas temperatures which promotes the usable life of the turbocharger. It is perfectly legal in the state of Texas and is not a sign of abuse as the above report would lead you to believe.

I would not say that we think that a woman doesn't know anything about trucks. We would, however, take issue with the fact that the author of the above report negotiated the deal from start to finish, then sent someone else, with a different set of criteria and opinions of what a used truck should be, to finish the deal. This type of situation will always end in a communication breakdown.

The end result was that the persons representing the author of the above report wanted several thousand dollars off the negotiated price. We were unable to meet this demand. They found several other trucks, but wanted thousands off the asking price for those vehicles as well. They finally informed us that they were of the opinion that they could find trucks cheaper in California. We did not argue that point with them and they returned to California.

Soon thereafter, someone purchased the truck they had flown in for and was very satisfied with the condition and left a happy customer.

We have sold 3,500 trucks and we try to do the right thing. Sometimes it is impossible to find a solution that is amicable to everyone involved. The number of satisfied customers far outweighs the handful that leaves dissatisfied.
