They sold me an 05 4runner. I had it inspected by Carchex before I paid for it.

(I think they are in kahootz with each other too b/c I tried having another car inspection company inspect the vehicle & they told me they weren't permitted on their lot and to use Carchex. That's another story though..)

They talk me into doing the transaction outside of Ebay (this eliminates protection Ebay offers) by giving me a price reduction. I was gullible and went for it.

They tell me they can have it shipped within a week guaranteed and fully insured for a much better price than any other shipping option. I went for that too.

Ultimately, they give me no info about the shipping, give me nothing in writing as far as who the carrier is, insurance details etc.

I finally get the vehicle and the condition was much worse than advertised. I did get it inspected by a 3rd party (Carchex). Turns out the inspection was bogus too.

It had a hole the size of a quarter in the trunk door panel, a large open space between the trunk door and body frame which let a lot of road noise in the cabin, scratches all over the interior, the emergency break doesn't work at all, the engine is all corroded, the manifolds are extremely rusted, the bolts on the engine block are badly rusted and look like they have been mix & matched (in other words aren't originals) and I get this horrible smell coming into the cabin from the catalytic converters when I accelerate.

I contact Eric at Northeast Auto and all he does is apologize and says he wishes it could have been in better condition.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.. They have a lot of positive reviews on Ebay but I didn't have a good experience. I don't know how they pulled that off.

Now I have a 4runner I paid too much for & makes me feel scammed every time I get in it.

Fabricated story...

These guys must have me confused with a different unsatisfied customer.  I was never on the phone with them when they during a walk around the vehicle.  Even if they did, how would a claimed walk around over the phone prove anything.  For all you'd know they'd be walking around their toilet.

There was no disclosure of the emergency break not working.  They're lucky it wasn't worth my time to throw them in court.  Then again, maybe that's their angle - get away with stuff that isn't worth their customer's time to take it to the next level.

They purchased the vehicle at auction and all of this was disclosed on the auction paperwork.  However, the info never made it to me.

My phone number used to be listed on this report and I've had at least 10 different buyers call me in less than a year b/c they were ripped off by these guys too..  Don't take my word for it, try them out yourself.  Just beware.

We sell 50 cars per month, over 5000 cars sold!

This complaint significantly exaggerates issues with the vehicle. The vehicle had 77K miles on it and certainly had normal but minor wear on it. Prior to the sale we did a very detailed walk-around inspection on the vehicle with the customer being on the phone. All noticeable imperfections have been discussed. The customer also had an independent inspection done on the vehicle which showed imperfections on the report. We always try to describe each vehicle in detail and we have done that in this case. But we can't be blamed that the customer did not like the vehicle after owning it or driving it for some time.

We sell about 50 cars per month not all of which may be perfect. However, we always try to describe them in detail. We are always open to any questions regarding our vehicles. We are always willing to do a walk around inspection on any of our vehicles. Third party inspections are always available. Many of our vehicles are sold on Ebay, our Ebay name is diamond.b. We have over 600 positive reviewes on Ebay, all from people who have done business with our dealership!! We have been awarded 3 Ebay Motors Top Seller Awards - given for outstanding business and committment to serving our customers. We would be honored to be given a chance of proving to you that our vehicles are properly described and our sales team is always very helpful and accomodating. Keeping our customers happy is our main goal!

Is It Possible You Can Learn Something From This?

#4Consumer Suggestion

No matter how anybody twists it, buying a car, sight unseen on the internet simply defies common sense.

You threw common sense out the window to do this. Accordingly, you took the bait, you were bitten.

Is it possible this seller set out to scam you or anyone else who took the bait? Absolutely! Why then, would you give them the opportunity???
