I work for a company that had gone through an embezzlement for approximately 5 years during an period of time when the owners were troubled with illnesses.  This individual not only falsified documents, she also doctored bank statements and the bookkeeping in an effort to prevent them finding out about the situation.  In an effort to pay herself, many company debts went unpaid.  Northern Credit handled two accounts for the above company.  Negotiations for a reduction of interest and fees began in September of 2011 and have been ongoing.  The first attempt to connect with them to resolve the issue of principle and interest charges on the account I was told that they did not have that information they would have to get back to me.  I was also told that someone of a higher authority would have to make the decision regarding the interest fees.  To this day we still do not have the transaction history on this account.  This prior employee also destroyed many documents.  At second attempt, interest was requested to be removed as logic would dictate that if a competent person had been handling this companies vendors this account would not be with them in the first place.  In the process of this negotiation the representative hung up on me.

I waited a few months and spoke with the owner and we decided to seek a complaint with the BBB.  Northern Credit misrepresented the situation and presented me as the problem and that there was not a problem prior to my 'interference'.  I had asked for transaction history and principle and interest charges. When I mentioned the State of California's fair creditor legislation, they found it "confusing".  The account was turned over 10 days after the employee who was embezzling was fired.
The owners did not even know the bill existed in the beginning.  The company has made regular payments and are attempting to have the interest removed from the account.  Attorneys and other creditors alike have written off interest fees willingly with other similar situation debts.  Except for Northern.  They twist the truth and are unwilling to negotiate despite the fact that we are willing to provide court documents showing her sentencing on the embezzlement charges.  They have repeatedly stated that they have provided this information when in fact they have not.  They have also tried to say that I am the problem when really they are being asked to perform their job in a professional manner and apparently are incapable to doing this.  This is an ongoing issue however in light of the other complaints on this company I felt we should also post.

The complaint is that they can't deal with the request, not because they won't lower the interest but because they are incompetent.

The lowering of interest and principle is the reason they are trying to negotiate, not why they are complaining.

Where I live providing of transaction history including invoices, statements, and any agreements is required for collections of any kind. It would make sense to provide this up front, but again the the supplier won't and apparently is dense enough not to understand why it would be a good idea.

Please actually try to understand the complaint before you abuse an OP.

You're calling Northern Credit a ripoff because they will not erase the interest on what you admit is a valid debt?  Your reason for demanding this is because your company hired a thief and should not be responsible?  How does your company's lax employment and supervision standards become your creditors' problem?

The one thing that there is no shortage of on this website is irony.
