Complaint Review: Northern Heat Pump

We bought a Northern Heat Pump X-Terra Series Model Rave 702-C131 for approx $20,000 and it has been nothing but a lemon!  A month after 5 years, we paid $1000 to replace the motor.  Now, a month shy of 7 years old, the machine is dead. Our house is freezing and it's -12 outside.  It hasn't run well from the beginning and the machine now has a refrigeration leak, is all rusted insdie the machine and the heat/air exchange valve is broke.  

How does a consumer pay $20,000 for a product to have it broken completely in 6 years and the company does nothing but tell you they could give you a great discount on a future one....approx $6,000....but we will have to pay someone to install it etc...  seriously?

I am disgusted and saddened to see a company sell a lemon to a consumer and not take responsibility.  Their sales pitch was their 'beautiful stainless steel machine'.....well, stainless steel is not too beautiful when it's all rusted!!!  

I will never use this company or Electro industries again.  Besides not responding to customer calls with call backs, they do not put customers in their shoes.  If this was a $3,000 product and it broke after 6 years...yes, I'd be mad, but I wouldn't be like I am now.  I spent $20,000, in hopes that I would heat my new home and it has only caused me a lot of cold nights, and lots of money. 

I caution anyone who goes with this company.  Look at the warranty.  Talk to the company and question their quality.  Ask them about the lemon they sold me and ask them if they'll stand by you if it happens to you!
