Northern Leasing Systems, Inc. is a credit card swipe machine lease company that faxed a contract to my local bank to use their credit card machine. I signed the contract which stated they would debit 32.00/month from my business checking account for 4 years. What I did not know, was the terms of the contract, which were under misleading headings, was that the contract was "Noncancellable." For the first debit of my business account, they took $88.28. When I disputed this, and wanted out of the contract, they said, "There was no out from the contract." That I was obligated to stand by this contract for 4 years. I said that is ridiculous. They insisted I wanted out. T

hey refused and very angrily said I had to buy the credit card machine lease out for $1,679.00 plus the cost of the machine for $175.20. I refused and said the terms of their agreement were too small to read and the terms are deceptive. They said that was too bad and that I was obligated to the lease terms. They said if I did not abide by their lease terms, they would sue me. They are the worse nightmare for the new small business owner. They call my house and business twice a day, every day. And they refuse to offer a Penalty fee to get out of their fraudulent lease. They have made my life miserable!! Stay away from this credit card scam company at all costs.

I purchased a business last year and had to have a cc processor immediately.  NPC sent someone immediately and, because it was my first time and this is a very complicated product that is impossible to compare one company to another because there are 100 different ways to name a fee and they all have many different fees.  Also, I didn't understand I could buy my own processing machine.  I thought I had to lease the one NPC gave me for $36.66 per month and then I found out I was tied in for 4 years.

Everyone who presented to me oversimplified and glossed over details like (ending up paying 4.5 times the value of the machine)

After a year, I realized I had a very bad deal through them and paid a stiff fee to switch companies but I am stuck in a 4-year contract paying $36.66 per month for 4 years  for a machine that is worth less than $400 that is gathering dust on my shelf. (New company gave me a free machine that is identical and I'm paying much less for processing).

I will now be paying $1759 for this machine which is a nothing short of robbery.  Noone in their right mind would make that decision if they understand there were options.

The retort this person made regarding reading the lease is nothing short of saying, if you are that stupid you deserve to be ripped off accordingly.

MY WIFE AND I ARE DEALING WITH THESE PEOPLE, AND I WOULD LIKE TO SUGGEST THAT IF EVERY ONE WOULD GO TO THEIR ATTORNEY GENERALS WEDSITE OR CALL AND FILE COMPLAINTS, LIKE THE FOLKS IN MISSOURI DID, (IT ONLY TOOK 23 COMPLAINTS TO MISSOURI ATTORNEY GENERAL TO GET SOME ACTION GOING AGAINST NORTHERN LEASING, AND THEY GOT STOPPED.) SO LETS BAND TOGETHER AND GET THESE PEOPLE SHUT DOWN. GO TO YOUR ATTORNEY GENERALS AND FILE THE COMPLAINTS, WE HAVE IN IOWA, AND ARE SPREADING THE WORD. DON'T LET THEM WIN. FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT! WHAT HAPPENED IN MISSOURI GIVES HOPE TO US ALL. THANK YOU

Sadly, consumers often need a class to understand all of the "fine print" on the contracts we sign as we are being misinformed by the sales representatives at the same time. Northern Lease has been drafting my account $37.22 every month for over 4 and a half years now. I was under the incorrect impression thanks to my shifty sales rep that after 4 years of paying this lease I would own the machine, which I haven't even used in almost 4 years because it quit working and they refused to replace it. Now after charging me for the 4 years PLUS the extra 6 months (almost $225) they want me to pay another $250 to buy this broken machine, which is supposedly 10% of fair market value for what is now a very old machine. On top of all this, the person on the phone spoke such minimal English that I couldn't understand half of what she was saying and she was extremely snotty and rude with me from the minute she answered the call. I asked about the $225 I've already been charged beyond my lease, and her response was "it doesn't work that way". Consumer Beware with this company!

BAD Customer Service

#14Consumer Comment

Tue, January 16, 2007

I am at the END of my lease...FOUR YEARS WORTH! for a d**n little credit card machine and PIN Pad. $41.76 per month for 4 years=$2004.48.

I can get this entire setup off eBay for $165.

Now that I am at the end, I am trying to close it out. The Customer service rep that called me did not HAVE A CLUE. He said the closing "fee" is $284.87!!!!! HUH? I have already paid $2000 bucks! his "supervisor" couldn't come to the phone.

IF I SEND THE EQUIPMENT BACK, they will give me a "discount" and I only have to pay $256.39!!!

Hello?
That's like extending the lease 7 more months!

Now I have called EVERY DAY for 2 weeks trying to get ANYONE on the phone so I can finish this.

I have been disconnected THREE TIMES out of 5 calls today!!!

I finally talked to a receptionist who said I needed to call "after lunch". yeah right.

Last week I actually got to be on hold.....until 4:30pm when (at closing) all people on hold get sent into voicemail...when you call back you get the CLOSED message.

WILL THIS NIGHTMARE EVER END???????

Northern Leasing - MBF Leasing

Northern Leasing Systems, Inc. is corporate name for MBF Leasing LLC. MBF Leaseing is conspiring with E Income Solutions and New Merchant Services to bilk unsuspecting consumers with their "Non-cancellable Leases". This company is commiting fraud and hides it in a contract that is difficult to read and understand. They need to be stopped.

So did you know that it was a $hit job when you took it? How can you defend the indefensible? This company makes it a common tactic to sue small business in thier home state of New York or worse, in Boston. They do this specificly to create a situation where a small business owner wont be able to attend the court date and is tried in abstentia, unrepresented. This is a common, unreputable tactic used by the worst element in the financial world.... Not to mention their gracious collection team...

Contact FTC and State Attorney General

#14Consumer Suggestion

Sun, May 01, 2005

Hi,
Regardless of what the Independant Reps Say to defend their actions. CIT Lease Finance Group is nothing more than Bottom Feeders depending on the Trickery of the Independant Sales Reps.

I have been making this suggestion to many other people being RippedOff by CIT & Independent Reps. So far, I have received no additional calls since I did this plus told CIT that this was FRAUD & FORGERY. But who knows???? So check this out>>>>
You may want to send a complaint to FTC (Federal Trade Commission). I did and received a response saying they don't do individual cases. However, if they log enough complaints, they will start an investigation and possibly legal action. So here is the link: https://www.lfgnet.com/intro.asp to the FTC complaint form. I've told many people about it, so you may want to do the same. Make sure you give specific examples or even let them know you have documentation of deceptive or misleading information. Please remember if things weren't CLEARLY disclosed at time of sale, this may be FRAUD in most states

Also, you may want to file with your State Attorney General. I haven't given up, but it does take a while for the squeaky wheel to be heard.

As far as CIT, here is their main site: http://www.cit.com/main/default.htm . Also, within this site, I found e-mails and have sent copies of my rip-off report, including a copy of all the complaints listed under Lease Finance Group in the Rip-Off site. Here are some e-mail addresses, you may want to send your concerns to: investor.relations@cit.com, corpcomm@cit.com, directors@cit.com, Support@LFGNet.com Just to let them know how you feel about their fraudulent relationships with Independent Sales Representatives.

I did get the Rip-Off Report Do-It-Yourself Guide and it did have some good steps to follow. However, it was a little lacking in the cyberspace rip-offs. I've been paralleling the thoughts or ideas in this Guide to try to apply them to the internet. For example, instead of sending faxes, send e-mails. So every web site I am interested in, I look for e-mails and make up a group listing & start bombarding them with e-mails and include my rip-off report, plus any other rip-off concerns.

I hope this helps. Thanks, G for California

#14REBUTTAL Owner of company

I also was ripped off by Northern Leasing/Golden Eagle. I helped my son and his future wife start a small business. They leased the credit card machine and after a very short time they decided to leave the business due to full time college. I tried to get the company to talk to me but I was told they would only deal with my son. I received very nasty calls and my son did also. My son was afraid of of a bad credit rating so I paid the thousand dollars and ended up with a big fat zero. I will never do business with that company.

Check out LEASECOMM on Google and then go after this leasing company the same way the Attorneys General did with Leasecomm - It is one in the same- They got caught ONCE - Go get them again!

As for the SHILL who posted that crap about how stupid the consumer is. I did undercover research on Leasecomm and watched their sales tactics and "contracts" and it was SLEAZY at best and ILLEGAL at worst. And YOU KNOW IT!

Verification would have informed you of the lease agreement

It is part of the verification system set up at Northern Leasing to inform the merchant of all fees associated with their contract. Every rep. is specifically trained to do so. How you remained uniformed remains a mystery to me.
