We signed a lease with Northern Leasing in 1995 for 4 years. We were told that we would receive notice that the lease would be coming due and have the option to buy out the equipment or terminate the lease. We never received notice. Because of many staff changes our lease was not reviewed until 2004 by our people. It was then that we discovered that our agreement had been up for 5 years and we continued to be billed.

When we called to complain and straighten it out we were told that the representative sent to our company did not work for Northern Leasing therefore they could not be responsible for erroneous statements and representations made by them.

We were also told that even though they collected $2,500.00 more from us than our lease was for, we would still have to pay a few hundred dollars to buy out the lease. We were told to refer to the fine print stating that we had to submit written notice to cancel our lease. This was never explained to us and is written so small on the contract that with 20/20 vision, I still needed to squint to see it.

Yes, everything they did was apparently legal, they covered their butts well. However their business dealings are shady, and basically just a legal way to screw and take advantage of their customers. If you have dealings with this company, do yourself a big favor and read all contracts over a few times.
